Can you buy a VXT in the form of an electric guitar only? It's a beautiful guitar. But I'm not all that thrilled with the whole "one guitar fits all" thinking. I'd prefer to keep the acoustic and electric guitars separate.

Would a pure electric VXT cost more or less?

Jim

I used the VXT yesterday for two services each with five dixieland style jazz numbers. We had our regular band plus four members of the Denver Brass. When dialing in the VXT, I thought the acoustic side was too open sounding (the whole reason I went with a solid instead of the roundback), and the electric side had almost too much bite. I ended up with about 60% on the electric side, neck pup only, and 40% on the acoustic side, then added just a touch of reverb. That's the beauty of this guitar. There are so many variations possible.

My truck came with an ash tray and a lighter but I don't use them. It's good to have options.

Jim, buy a VXT and I'll buy the guts from you and provide some 500K pots and a Blender switch for you!

If you had to go with just one I'd say go Hamer.

the vxt was designed with the electric player in mind. that is why it has a metal bridge and not the standard ovation saddle.

it makes a fine electric only guitar with duncan pickups.
I would DEFY you to find a better USA built guitar in the price range.

I have a couple of new and used ones in stock.
if interested contact me.

Woody's way would work (I like all the W's in there, Wow) ... but that's like giving the VXT a lobotomy, it definitely is not the direction to go.

Probably your best bet is to get a warmoth body that approximates what your looking for, and put in the guts you want.

Or if you can afford it, a Hamer.

Thanks guys. I'm starting to get that itchy feelling that is caused by not buying a guitar for a long time. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to need to buy my wife a puppy (or is that spelled "poopy") the same time I get my next guitar. I'm trying to resist since I don't want another dog but I can only hold out for so long. I'm only human damn it.

but would you trade it for VXT? i don't think so.

I could trade my Carvin for great-condition Tornado or Tornado + Deacon, but i wouldn't trade it for any of currently made models.

It was not a current model I traded for and you're probably right LBJ, I would probably would have kept the Carvin over a VXT.
