Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | I've moved up to Albany, NY from Brooklyn and I'm looking for luthiers and guitar stores in the area;(Amoungst other things ... and I'm still unpacking after a month!) I found one up in saratoga springs that'll do set ups and deals in used instruments.
I was wondering if any of the ovationistas in the Albany area had any tips?
Thanks! |

| Matt's right, Parkway Music in Clifton Park has some real nice Gibson's, and walls of Everything else and they are the biggest guitar store and used/vintage stuff around. Bought my MM-68 there on commission. They are what "Drome Sound Music" used to be.
Luthiers are tough, So far I have a guy in Gloversville, Vinny at Vishnu Music that has done some small fret replacement jobs for me. There are a few other around but no one advertises. Taylor has a guy who is a supposed to be a service tech in Amsterdam (I think?)he is supposed to be very good, but I will be using the Factory exclusively in the future. They are no more in cost and these guys are the best there is.
Hermies Music in Schenectady has some Vintage stuff from time to time as well, they are not the great store they used to be though. Ovations area rare breed up here. You would be amazed how many people are not familiar with them. And the musicians have only seen and played the Celebrities so they do not have much of a positive opinion about any of them.
Welcome to the Area! I live a little north of you but am around, I apparently am one of "Those who will not go away? in here anyway. I do a little Solo thing from time to time and have played in Albany once, so perhaps we'll run into each other.

Location: Ballston Lake, N.Y. | Martin Miranda does great work. He did some warranty work on my Taylor as well as a few of my electrics. He restored the electronics in my Thunderhead. His number is 518-330-5447. A local dealer who only deals via the web is Chris\'s Guitars . He recently had a 1581 listed. |

Location: East Tennessee | There used to be a pretty big store out near one of the shopping malls. I think the name was Drome Sound. It's been a long time since I moved down here. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I take that back, looks like they have (had) stores in Albany AND Schenectedy. When in doubt consult the t-shirt drawer ...

I never got a shirt but I drool over a few guitars when ever I went there. First store I ever actually saw an Adamas.
I remember a wall of Fender Strats, one of every color. |
