Location: Florida | Hello members of the Ovation Fan Club,
Will a VIP-5 fit and operate properly in a CKO47?
I already bought the VIP preamp(not realizing the "can" did not come with it)and am trying to find a descent Ovation to put it into.
If they don't match, can the proper "can" be purchased separately?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Location: Utah | Hmm, did you buy the preamp new? New preamps usually come from the factory with a can.
The VIP will fit in the same can as the OpPro, and OpPro Studio. The iDea also works in those cans. The cans from older preamps with the same shape, such as the Op30, are not compatible.
Take out the existing preamp module and look down into the bottom of the can and you'll see a little rectangular connector with either 7 or 8 copper tabs. The newer preamps have 8 tabs, 4 on each side of the connector. The older have 7, three on one side and 4 on the other. |

Location: Florida | I bought it on ebay "Ovation - VIP -Preamp ( Module ) & Pick Up-New". I didn't know about the "can".
Anybody know if the "8-tab can" can be bought separately? |

Location: Florida | Hi FlySig,
I sent you a PM(I hope I did it correctly, 1st time).
Thanks
I also visited your FMP.
It's great to hear you doing music with you children. I was fortunate enough to be able to do "club dates" with my father for over thirty years. Good memories. |
