That's a very nice one, indeed and they are great sounding, too.
Wish it were mine.

I have been trying to score a 1614 for a while that is in decent shape. It is my experience they are highly sought after. I thought I could steal one in Brazil (or somewhere down there) that was on a foreign ebay. It was in perfect shape and being sold by a guy that found it in his apt when he moved in...
Anyway, it went for more than 800 + shipping. So I don't think there is anything close to stealth snagging one.

Looks as if this one could go over a grand...yikes.

This is a beauty but I'm a little surprised at the pace of the auction especially with 3 days still to go. As far as I know, the 1614 is essentially the 1114 Folklore but with electronics, made in the same years with identical construction and materials.....but I'm often wrong. I love the twelve fret/wide necks and have an 82 1114 "Burst" in essentially the same great shape that I value, but wouldn't have thought would be go for a grand!!, so what am I missing about why the 1614 model is so sought after?

It's about twice what the natural 1614s have been going for. I guess I shouldn't have sold my burst Balladeer.

No kidding! Admittedly my 1114-4 wasn't in as good a shape as this one, but it wasn't bad either! And it didn't get half what this one did. Good on the seller!

wonder why they made so few 1614's in sunburst or you see so few in that colour for sale?

I also think it must be the color. I purchased a 1114-4 last November for less than $200,00 in really good shape, too.

Now that you mention the colour angle, I recently saw a brown Adamas on Ebay, go for about 50% more than a black one that was younger and in arguably better shape. Beyond the beauty of the colour, I guess it's possible that production runs could have varied making the "burst" ovations and "brown" Adamas and others I suspect, a littler less available today. Good to know.
Thanks for the advice fellas.

What you have is every eBay sellers dream. TWO bidders that want the guitar and are willing to bid against themselves. Hopefully the winner plans on keeping it. It appears to be leaving the investment range and heading quickly to the hobby range.

I've seen a lot of 1114s and 1614s on eBay over the last three years. Thought I might replace my 1624 with one. I'd pay $500 max for a perfect example. But someone else is willing to pay $1125 today. A month or two of bad economic news might get you one for $350. Who knows?

There are only two bidders in this auction, and one has only 5 feedback. Maybe not indicative of the value of this model. Sunburst do come up for sale every couple months.

Didn't mean to pick on you- I would have thought you were the other bidder. I watch out for low feedback ratings because they could be shills.

I'll PM you info on a sunburst 1114.

A shill is a fake bidder who is there to drive up the price. Sometimes sellers set up a second account or have their friends and family bid.
