Hi. I am very new here. I have spent the last several days looking through the posts and have found lots of good information. Thanks!

My parents got me a 1771LX for my birthday last month, I guess because my dad knew that I was slightly disappointed with the acoustic they bought me last year. I'm not spoiled, I swear.. I was so surprised to get another (much nicer) guitar! My dad picked out the 1771LX after trying a bunch of acoustics in that price range at the local guitar big box store, and I guess he had a hunch that I would like the Ovations since I always loved to play his 70s Ovation (I don't know which model, I will find out next time I go to the parents' house). It's a beauty.

Anyway, I hope this post isn't totally useless. I just wanted to say "Hi" to you all and thank you for the info I have found here.

Welcome Intoflatlines...

Glad you got yerself a nice guitar. Maybe your Dad wanted to be sure you were gonna play the first guitar before he spent a month's rent money on the LX...
[just thinking out loud]

Stick around... We'll be expecting pictures.

Welcome indeed.

Your Dad had the right idea, you should line him up on here too seeing as he has a nice old O.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

I had secretly always wanted his Ovation ever since I started playing it regularly and taking it to parties and bonfires and such, around five years ago (don't worry, I took very good care of it).

My dad's Ovation isn't very flashy or as showy as the ones I've seen around here, but it sure does sound and play great. He uses it mainly as his campfire/guitar retreat/don't worry too much about climate guitar. He also has a beautiful Martin six string and a Taylor twelve string that I'm very jealous of. I'll be sure to find more info about his Ovation next time I see it.

Here's some pics of my 1771LX. Nothing out of the ordinary, just another wonderful Ovation.

Front view.

Artsy-fartsy-ish shot.

Pardon the dust.

Lens shadow.

The tuners look nasty because I left the plastic films on, and I neglected to wipe off the fingerprints.

IFL,
to the OFC! You have a nice base for an 'O' collection there.

You're off to a great start here in that you provided pics (we're photo-fixated here) and your string eyes are aligned (we're also anal).

AJ , since we have an 'Iffy' and now an 'IFL', maybe 'moody' be back as 'IFU'...
