Location: N.E. Pa | Been awhile! But I still have my '74 'Burst Balladeer, '75 Glen Campbell and my CC-074 bass. BUT, have an opportunity to add #4 and wonder what the approximate value of a 2000 Custom Legend 1869 in black is. Basically mint. Thanks! |

Value is way too subjective to give an accurate answer.
Things like condition, appearance, color, tone, and the phase of the moon all come into play.
It is worth whatever a particular person is willing to pay for that particular guitar on that particular day. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I loved my 1869 when I had one (black) ...Does this year still have the carved bridge? Like OMA said, there are a lot of factors that determine value for a specific guitar. I've played 3 different guitars of the same model and had differing opinions on each one. As far as the 1869 goes... There are a LOT of them out there, and they are always up on Ebay, so the supply/demand theory would suggest you should be able to get a good used one at a reasonable price.(especially in today's economy) I've watched a LOT of them go used for between $600-$800, with the nicer ADII models going about 500 more. Watch for excessive bellying and finish cracks on the older models though. There are a lot of damaged ones out there also. |

I realize Ebay is the barometer, but a lot of the pricing can be a bit 'optimistic' Was more concerned about what the rank and file here considered a rough 'range' of what the pricing may be. Pics are always nice too, I know! All that said, it doesn't have the carved bridge. Does have all the abalone trim and is black. Its is nearly flawless, plays and sounds fine. Asking price is $700. Only negative I can see is the fingerboard dips a little right above the sound hole. Actually my Glen does that too, but has remained where it's at for the last 36 years. Any concerns there? Thanks again! |

Location: San Francisco, CA | I bought a black 1990 Model 1869 w/case about four years ago for $650 in excellent cosmetic condition (eBay).
This year I had the neck reset and frets replaced by Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA. Frank Ford did the job personally and it turned out super. Job cost around $500 or so.
I LOVE this guitar to death! While it's pure acoustic tone is nothing to write home about, the plugged in tone when fronted by my BOSS DM-2 Analog Delay > BOSS CH-1 Super Chorus > Fender Vibro Champ or Deluxe Reverb is just incredibly delicious sounding.
BTW, one venue I play has black lights. Their effect on my 1869 is to turn the color to a gorgeous shade of emerald green. VERY cool!
