....every day early in the morning old tv series are broadcasted here for those of us nostalgic of the '70s. You name it: Kojak, Sergent Pepper, Magnum PI, Starsky & Hutch, and so on.
This morning, while doing housework, my wife [that is well trained on Ovation things ... :) ] noted that Mr. Hutch (David Soul) was playing a
very nice Ovation. She download the episode (italian version) for our file.
You can see the English version HERE . Jump to min 6.00.
You will notice a very nice Folklore. Ok, it looks like a Folklore but it show different appointments compared with the standard production. The
more visible from the video is the abalone purfling on the body ..... maybe an early custom order ?

He actually had one hit recording back then, when everyone played Ovations.

I don't think I ever saw the show, although I heard the song on the radio. I'm not implying that I had any taste in what I watched on TV, I just didn't have a TV from the mid-70s till 84. I actually accomplished something during those years.

You didn't miss much in a show that included a pimp named huggy bear...I think all it did was help ford sell gran torino's.

I did a quick google and it seems that he played a couple ovations...but that guitar seemed the most prevalent.

Probably needed a little counseling from Freud, based on this album cover. But Ovations will do that to you. You know...the dreaded Ovation envy.

jay thanks for the link. That's really the guitar of the vid. Abalone trim and carved bridge; definitively is a out of standard Folklore ....

I am not sure. You may be on the wrong board to get a satisfactory answer to your query.

You might want to pose your question HERE

That was one of my favorite shows as a kid.
I've purchased some of the boxed sets and surprisingly, his Ovation pops up almost every time they do a scene in Hutch's apartment.
I seem to remember three or four episodes where he plays and sings too...

I loved the show. Typical for it's time. Great action, car stunts and hot chicks. I wound up getting a red Torino ( no white stripe) Fun car! Later when I put on a badge I carried a 6 inch Python like Hutch carried in the show but that was just because I love Colt's. I never understood why anybody would carry a six inch in a shoulder holster. Don't you just love Hollywood?
