I posted previously that I was possibly trading my 2003 Michael Kelly Patriot Q (Les Paul-ish electric) for an 1979 Ovation Balladeer...
Trading for a 1979 Balladeer:

... well that wasn't quite right. It was a 1979 Ovation, but a 1627 Glen Campbell Artist. I made the trade at lunch. (thanks for the advice Al!) She is in Very Good shape, dusty with a few small dings, but nothing major found wrong yet. The neck looks good, no cracks in the top. She needs a serious cleaning, conditioning, fret level & polish, and new set of strings. I couldn't check the electrics for lack of a good 9V, but the terminals are clean, even the case closes properly. So I took a chance.
The only disappointment so far is that the TRC is signature-less and there is a stick-on guitar saver pickguard on it. (Ideas on how to remove it would be appreciated.)
How did I do?

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | WoW! ... You can get a new set of tuners at the factory, and I'm sure you'll eventually find a truss rod cover floating around here somewhere. Then she'll look as good as new. IRT the stick-on pickguard... Try using a blow dryer on LOW heat (keep it away and go slow. A little heat should soften the adhesive. After it's off, perhaps a little goo gone on a soft cotton cloth/t-shirt. |

Location: SoCal | Nice guitar. You're going to have a tough time finding a GC trc. They are becoming fairly rare. I had a spare and just shipped it off to Germany last week. Do check with the factory on what you need..... |

Location: NW of Philadelphia | After a healthy cleaning, polishing, fresh strings (EXP15s) and 9V battery... HOT DAMN! She looks great and sounds amazing. The electrics are in great shape as well, no crackles. Plugged in she has a very airy sound, almost like she has a built in chorus.
She still needs some minor setup adjustments and a fret level and polish is definitely needed.
So... if anyone has a proper GC TRC, please contact me. |

Location: NW of Philadelphia | Just got off the phone with John B. in CT. A new GC TRC (big) and preamp knobs on the way. The tuners will have to wait. The fret level is more important. If that turns into a refret, off to mother she will go. |

New and proper TRC. Ding in the crown needs to be filled in.
New knobs with numbers you can read.
Ahhh... Ebony and MoP |
