Location: Michigan | wow after another visit to aruba boy they sure need to greatly update their musical standards.
no decent radio stations , no really good rock, pop, country, american or british influences, and all of the locals also agree .
i really think that if you were a fairly decent guitar player and singer you could get booked into some great gigs on the island and they keep you at their places for ever . i was talking to some casino employees about their house band and they told me that the same band plays at the same casino forever .they do not move around to different gigs which i thought was very strange.we stopped at the ( hyatt ) casino just about every night during the week just to gamble drink & listen to the band and the casino band was not there last friday night and i asked why they didn't have entertainment that night and they said someone staying at the hotel ( hyatt ) requested the band for their wedding and that was what they were doing that night. i said how come you don't have another band in the casino when they are playing out and they told me they do not do that there.
it is a different way of life , but if you can play an e a or a g chord i think that you could make a living there . i love aruba but they need to get some western influenced music down there fast.GWB |

Location: Michigan | Im not kidding you the casino bands
( the place to have a gig for the big money? )that play there are in my u.s.a. standards as local bar bands . i am in no way knocking the talent of a local bar band but there is not anything to special about the bands that i saw playing there after 5 visits to the island .they play some very well known pop songs from the u.s and england that seem to keep everyone entertained. so if you are ready to give up on the american dream of becoming a rock star then aruba is awaiting your guitar talents.GWB |
