I apologize up front for the unbridled enthusiasm and the repetition that goes with it, but I'm pretty excited about my new guitar. Damon67 said that this guitar was the "top of the bottom" when it comes to Ovations. If that's the case, I can't wait to play something a little higher up on the food chain. Although, I'm very happy with this one right now so I won't tempt myself. ;)

I've got a handful of decent guitars and getting a new one always creates a certain amount of enthusiasm for it during the honeymoon stage, but something has been very different with this one. I've been driven to not just noodle and have fun, but to also get back to preparing some songs for a set or two to gig out. This guitar just begs to play out. I've been so wrapped up with work and school for the last 2 years that my music has taken a back seat and become therapy at home more than anything else...not a bad thing itself. But, I've been wanting to get out and play a little and this guitar has inspired me to do so...to make the time, and to prepare for it. For that I'm very excited. A friend of mine here owns a coffee shop so finding a venue is not an issue, and I'm not looking for money, just a chance to share music. Something about the O makes me want to do it even more.

Thanks for a great forum. I've read tons of back posts and looked at lots of pictures...you seem like a great bunch of folks. And I noticed that one of the members is from my old hometown, Warren, PA...I moved to Florida from there a little more than 4 years ago. I've been a member here for a while but more of a lurker than anything as I parted with the initial Ovation that got me to sign up here. It was an Ebay purchase that ended up having issues so I sent it back. This time I've got a keeper, so I'm here to stay.

And here she is, my 2008 Ovation Standard Elite 2778LX...

I'm glad you are so pleased K.
I sure is a looker.
You don't see many with a natural top.

The 2778 is a deep bowl right?

I have 2 shallow bowls and a mid bowl and it's starting me thinking, how much did you pay for the 2778?

Thanks, guys. :)

It's a deep contour. I got in on closeout for $800...I've seen this sale at a couple of places.

Here's a link to the official site...

A real beauty! I have just received a 6678 LX and it's a killer especially as it cost just $600!

Beautiful instrument at a steal of a price. Glad you were able to get a U.S. one. I have become quite a fan of the contour bowl. Congrats!
