When my Dad obtained this guitar from Ovation he was told Kenny Rogers returned it for repair. I can only guess they gave Kenny a new one as this one sat at the factory for at least several years in an unrepaired state. The S/N dates it to 1981. When it became available Dad had the service folks fix it up as indicated on the repair order, dated 10-18-90. I think he wanted it as a novelty; the guitar has essentially sat in its case for the last 21 years. I finally broke it out last week for a quick cleaning. Even with the old strings she sounds real sweet. When I re-string it I can change the battery and check the electronics.
