The normal range of shipping cost for those gits I've received has been from $23 to $42 with the average about $32. Hell, I shipped/insured a very well packaged CB to Italy for $95, USPS Express Overseas. It got there in nine days in the condition I sent it. So, package the gits yourself and $ave a few buck$. There are many posts here related to packaging and shipping. So use the 'search' and $ave. If you're buying out-of-town, you may want to forewarn the seller as to the 'trap$' out there. BTW, as mentioned in another post, I now have had three gits shipped just in the case with the latches taped and all three arrived in great shape. So that's just another option for the uninitiated. Maybe we could have a 'sticky' to warn and educate the n00bs or those that haven't shipped before. This has been a PSA brought to you by an OGASer...

Don't think too hard about this, Iffy's the only one who will "get it." (Or is that "Got it?") :D

I suspect your "Shippers" didn't understand the details before shipping. Sounds like they are using a third party service. Or shipping with high insurance values or upgraded service... ... or they are scammin' you.

The guitar was only $225, but shipping was $70, back when I could ship a guitar the opposite way for $19. It took me hours to get through all the tape and bubble wrap to find a guitar that didn't have any packaging inside the case and didn't have the strings loosened.

And that middle man needs to pay the rent, lights, and heat. I have not shipped a guitar in a couple years but when I sent my Balladeer to the Mothership I sent it right from my shop and paid about $18.

I can ask about the second one, but the first one is a new Harvard grad. I'm sure she is now on a sailboat in the Carrib... But nonetheless it's still a 'rip'; twice the cost of normal shipping/insurance for a box and 'peanuts'! Ergo, my post...

Have done this because of the size restrictions shipping here. A guitar box costs about $400, I have been paying anywhere between $92 and $140 depending on who my mate in Denver got at the PO. All went well until yesterday. Guitar was fine case trashed. Percentage game I guess  And it was a Deacon case. Bugger!!! AJ
