Location: california | I went to a local guitar center because I needed new strings for my Martin DX1 tawny. While I was at the acoustic room, I noticed an Ovation on clearance and decided to try it out. I was blown away by the sound and playability. It was a U.S. made Balladeer Special GCS771-C. to make the story short I got the guitar with an Ovation hard case for $259 + tax just because its electronics was not working.
after a few days... I sold the Martin. |

Yep... there are some great deals going on and you sure got one!
Did you replace the battery? The electrical problem might be just that simple. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | $259 including case? Wow. I've gotta believe that electrical problem can be fixed for not a lot of additional dough, and if the guitar is is reasonable condition (sometimes they deteriorate pretty fast on a GC wall), you got yourself a terrific deal. If this is the GC special Elite model, these things were originally something like $1900 MSRP and $1400 from GC as I recall. Nice grab! |

Location: GA USA | It's the Cedar Balladeer Special, BB. They weren't nearly as expensive as that. Like half. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Thanks, Cap'n. I saw a hanger with a GC special tag about a year ago. Must have been something different. |

Location: california | thanks guys....
actually compared to my DX1 martin, the Balladeer special is not nearly as loud but I like the neck and feel of the ovation a lot more.
I think the guitar was $899.99 new according to the salesperson. This guitar features a solid cedar top, no fret inlays no fancy binding just simple plain looking guitar.
I took the electronics apart and the only thing wrong with it was the pick-up transducer. Luckily my local guitar store (Fret house) happen to have one laying around for $50. So the total
I've spent is just a little over $300 and yes it came with an authentic ovation guitar abs case.
BTW, does $520.00 sound like a good deal for a mid 80's Ovation 1869 legend with case ? |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Stockegsix, you barely have the case open on the new Ovation you just stole from GC and now you're already looking at deals on another one? You'll fit in just fine around here! |
