Hi everyone -

My first post here; usually hang around the Les Paul board as I play electric 98% of the time...but I felt compared to share my latest purchase. I have a Celebrity Deluxe that is about 6-7 years old - not a bad guitar to mess around on, but I have been looking to upgrade for a while and have recently upped the search. The black Elite 1778T guitar really caught my eye, and it seems like it gets good user reviews overall. So I went to buy one from MF...they had them available this last Sunday for $599, but when I went back to order it they were gone. So I went to music123 and they also had it for $599, but had a Memorial Day special going on for $100 off any purchase over $500! So I ordered it as fast as my fingers could type and got a brand new 1778T in black (not a blem), with free shipping, for $499 out the door! I went back in there today to check the order status, and they seem to be gone! Glad I didn't wait...

Would love to hear any feedback from those who have one...I did a search and it seems like they are well liked overall.

Congrats Dawg (Saying that makes me feel like Randy Jackson)

If you did a search on 1778T and or EliteT, you'll probably have enogh rave reviews to keep you going for a while.

They're great guitars, and I wouldn't mind having one myself.

Welcome to the OFC! Hang out for a bit.

My son has the EliteT with the orange flames - he loves it - it's very easy to play - almost like an electric - and has a very deep bass sound.

It's nearly indestructable too.

Great deal!

Thanks guys! Crimson...I see on your sig you have a Preacher; I had one that I bought with my paper route money back in the late 70's. One of my biggest mistakes was trading it in for a Guild X-79 around '83 (it was hair-metal music times after all!). I wish I still had that - it was in perfect condition and I'm pretty sure I only got a few hundred bucks for it...

Welcome Clubdawg....
FYI... Ovation is moving production of the EliteT overseas. They have reduced the prices on the USA models to help clear them out.
There have been quite a few EliteTs recently purchased here on on board for two reasons... 1) Great price and 2) We all know the quality of work that comes out of New Hartford.
We have always said that the EliteT offers the most bang for the buck than any other Ovation. And that was before the drop in prices.
In conclusion.... yes.... you are a stealer of guitars.
Good for you!!!

Here is my newest addition....

I wasn't gonna brag until I found somebody that got a better deal than me. You beat me by $1.00, assuming you got a case with it.

Dawg - I got mine in the late 70's as well. I replaced the pickups with Dimarzios pretty soon after I got it. I stopped playing it for the most part in the early 80's, but kept it. It took it's share of lumps over the years. A couple of years ago, I decided to restore it - find original pups, fix the dings, dents and cracks, etc.

That's what led me to this place....

Yep...case included. But I'm still in the hole overall; my wife bought me a Gibson Class 5 LP for my 40th birthday and paid the tagged price (she wanted to surprise me). I wish she would have ruined the surprise and let me save some cash.

Actually you did better than $1. Mine is a (quoting the seller) factory recondition that was never labeled FRG. But it looks perfect and plays like a dream, so I didn't argue with $500, since they were going for $850 at the time.

ClubDawg,
Step way from the guitar and assume the position!! You have the right to play major chords, Remember anything that you play badly can and will be used against you. If you can't afford lessons, a teacher can be assigned to you by the OFC if you so desire. :D  ;) :p :)

That 1778 Elite T is a real steal. I bought mine and loved it so much that I bought the 2078 T from Sweetwater a couple of months later. I can't decide which I like better, but I also feel like I stole these guitars. I guess that's why they're disappearing so fast!
