This is for real!!!

There's a little G' shop in town that I've bought several Ovations from over the years - including my '73 1621-1 over 30 years ago...

Here's the deal - the owner (an early O' advocate!) recently pulled a brand new Ltd. Elite off the warehouse shelf (ser. # 513717)and it belongs in the hands of the OFC!

The list on it is $3030 + tax, and they've got it listed for $1999...They've offered it to me with the "customer loyalty discount" for $1700 + tax (@8.5% it brings the total to about $1850.

I repeat - this is a NEW unit (in flawless condition) that sounds and plays every bit as well as my #FD-14, but with absolute collectable art value. It's cool in the pictures - but stunning in person.

I will offer to "broker" this guitar for an OFC member - so for $1850 + S & H you could own a piece of history. Please send serious inquiries to my e-mail address (or post them here) and we'll see if we can keep this beauty in the family!

Perhaps there's OFC members who'll attest to my guitar packaging (Les!) and my reputation (or check it @ eBay = 100%) Mahalos Y'allos!

Have you actually played the Book Elite and the FD14 side by side? I own both. The BE is the best looking guitar I own. And the FD14 is perhaps the best sounding guitar I own. At least to me there is no comparison in sound between the two. But that's just my opinion. Yes the Book Elite is special just because it's on the cover of the book. But the FD14 is actually much more rare (only half as many made as the BE). Don't get me wrong, the BE is a great guitar and I'll never get rid of mine, but for $1850. it's not a "to die for" guitar. And just this morning wasn't someone else on this board (Satch?) was selling his BE for only $700. For that price someone should grab it.

Dave...all points very well taken! No , I haven't done the side-by-side taste test, but I'll take your word.

And though I agree that the acoustic quality of the FD is perhaps "to die for", I reckon that the BE is asthetically in the same arena...

And, the chance to own any thing "brand new" is a bit special as well - there's just somethin' 'bout sending in that warranty card that's sorta like a boy's right of passage (or something!?!).

And, if I might say so...your website, Dave, is a work of art and intellect unlike anything else out there - an instant addition to my "favorites" list, and a tribute to your stature among the OFCer's. My applause is "given up" for you!

Yes, I think you nailed it - the 1768 was designed as a looker and in my opinion has no equals. FD14 was designed for unplugged sound (some would say it's kind of ugly). But both great guitars in their own way. I've played out a few times with the 1768 and was told it looked awesome under the lights. You know all about the FD14 sound, it speaks for it self. Thanks for the nice words about the website. It's a labor of love.
