| How much thicker is a deep contour vs a super shallow bow? For sitting down is one more comfortable and fuller sounding than the other.

For sitting down? Yes it is fuller sounding, and it won't slide around on your leg as much as an SSB cuz there is a contour shape for you leg there too.
Standing up... Now that took some getting used to for me.
When I stand-up with a regular round-back I tilt the top up.
Some people do not like that, which is why they invented the Contour Bowl
But personally, I like to see what I am doing.
Standing up with a Contour bowl is the same as playing a square-backed wood-box...
I can do it, but it took some getting used-to.
I sit down most of the time anyway. |

| thank you very much old man arthur, I have a bad back and I always play sitting down. I ordered me the 1861LX Standard Balladeer lx last week to start off with it had a paint blemish and the eq was alittle messed up.
Next I ordered the 2778LX Standard Elite Contour, but the more I think about it the more I think I like the looks of the hole in the middle of the guitar and I was looking for solid black. I just cancelled my order on the 2778lx.
I am going with a 2771LX Standard Balladeer Contour. I don't have long history with ovations and no place to go try one out within many many miles of my home so the internet is where I have to get my information, not exactly the best place to shop but with people like you around hopefully I can make a good decision. I just picked up the 2771 lx for 594.00. I am hoping it has a deeper fuller sound than the 1861LX Standard Balladeer lx ssb and to me I think I like the looks better than the 2778LX Standard Elite Contour. I guess time will tell, hopefully passing up on the first two I ordered isn't a mistake I will live to regret. Any how thank you for your quick feedback. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I only have one Contour bowl, and it has bass-side epaulet-holes... without the epaulet.
But I believe that from the players point-of-view, the center-hole sounds louder... But they sound similar over my computer's microphone...
Sorry that I cannot help you in your decision... But I can tell you the "internet shoppers total plan"...
