Old happens next April for me.
I am hoping if I am out of the country....maybe it won't count.
Therefore I'll be on vacation somewhere carrying on like a juvenile.
The shuffling and drooling can wait!

If you young whippersnappers are worrying about 50 being old, you got a long sorry road ahead.

Hey, at 50 I'm only a third of the way thru my life. What makes me feel old is when the AARP sends me membership stuff. That's always the first thing in the shredder.....

we can't help but get older, but that doesn't mean we have to grow up, does it? I mean I don't want to grow up, I'm a toys-r-us kid....peace mike

50 doesn't mean anything, I'm 53 and old still doesn't happen till next year and that is a constantly moving outer boundary. (this will still be a safe thing to say 20 years from now)

message to BZZZBEAR:

Thanks for offering mke your 4 control knobs!
I deleted your e-mail by mistake so am answering you this way.
I am a brand new electric Ovation owner and haven't a clue what to offer you for them.
What do you think?

What are the best electric O's out there to be looking for (from a playing perspective, not collecting)?
So not the most expensive on fleabay, but the nicest to play?

Vipers and UK2's would be my choice with a Deacon/Breadwinner coming up after that.

The Viper can still be had for less than $500 and the UK2 for less than $700 based on the last few months.

Vipers are just exceptional guitars that can sound similiar to a Tele or Strat. Necks are usually very nice, though chunky, and they are just a joy to play.

UK2's are the balls to the wall guitar. Super hot pups and a very fast neck. Tonal variation is not as great as the Viper but for a hard rock / metal style guitar it would win hands down. If you like a Les Paul type guitar and sound, the UK2 is lighter, easier to play, and has a LOT more sustain than a Paul.

Thanks, Stephen. Looks like I'll have to start keeping my eyes open for a Viper.
(would it be a sin to mount my GK-2 pickup on it? then I could get rid of my Strat and be all O...)

Based on how much you want to spend, I might have a couple for you to choose from. Send me an email and we can talk.

Thanks Stephen, I appreciate it. But I better hold off a little bit. In the last 2 months I've bought a house, a new car, spent $2300 on a keyboard, drums, DAW hardware, plus $700 on an 1866 that hasn't got here yet.
Even after 26 years of marriage I think my wife might consider homicide if I bought anything else right now.
I'll certainly keep you in mind, though, when she starts talking to me again. ;)
