Gonna sand down some saddles, change the strings to a lighter gauge (currently a very heavy gauge), put the TriAx pickup on, and she should be ready to go. Tuners are professionally replaced with Grover 18:1. The saddles are pre-ban ivory. Nice call Beal. Thanks for the tip. ![]()

When I first got my 340, I thought that the saddles needed to come down a bit, but after a little while I got used to the guitar for it's pure banging abilities and left the action alone. I switched strings down to a Bluegrass set from D'Addario, and it took a tad of the stiffness away.

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Takamine TF360SBG W/ CTP-1 CoolTube PreAmp. Guitar was originally purchased new in November 2007. I am the second owner. I purchased it from the original owner. When I received the Guitar, it was properly acclimated and has never been played out. It has been kept in my smoke-free home, which is Temp / Humidity controlled at 70*, and steady at 48% to 52%. I do not use any chemicals on my Guitars, and this one has been wiped down after every use, and stored in the Takamine OHSC when not in use. I do use a damp cloth, with De-Mineralized Water, for an occasional cleaning, and wipe completely dry. UPGRADES: The Guitar comes with 3 New Bob Colosi Takamine Split Saddles, installed by Certified Takamine Luthier. (1) Pre-Ban Elephant Ivory Saddle, (1) WAHI West African Hard Ivory Saddle, and (1) Bone Saddle. Action is set at 6.5 to 7/64” on big E, and 4.5 to 5/64" on Little E, so there is Saddle to work with if you would like a lower action. The Guitar also has a New Pre-Ban Elephant Ivory Nut, from Warther Carving Museum, with Cert’s and Affidavit, installed by Certified Takamine Luthier. During the Saddle, Nut, and Tuner installation, I also had them Level the Frets. The Guitar also comes with newly installed Grover Sta-Tites, 18:1, installed by Certified Takamine Luthier. Original Gotoh Tuner holes were properly plugged, and new holes were used for the Grover Sta-tite installation. Original Stock Takamine Gotoh Tuners will also be included with the Guitar, as well as the Stock Takamine Bone Split Saddle and Original Bone Nut. Guitar comes with Stock Takamine Ebony Bridge Pins. Guitar also comes with original Takamine Hard Shell Case. SETUP: The Guitar is set up right now with the Colosi Pre-Ban Elephant Ivory Split Saddle, and Pre-Ban Elephant Ivory Nut, with Takamine stock Ebony Bridge Pins.

It's just a freaking Tak Bluegrass guitar not a museum piece... it needs to live a bit on the wild side to play the tunes right. You need to get it outside where it can suck up some of the country/bluegrass mojo ... honky tonks, spilt beer, a little guitar smoke, and a whole lot of banging away ought to do the trick. ;) A couple of scars wouldn't hurt it none, either. On the saddle issue ... make it so you like it. Then play the hell out of it. It's probably still as tight as the previous owners anus.

Any time you're up this way, would you mind taking some glamor shots of my stable? They'd really relish the opportunity to look so chic..... ;) --Karen

I had Sean measure the action, and sure 'nuff, exactly as Michael described in his write-up. The NV is just having the TriAx taken out, the wire taken off the endpin jack (then modify the end of cable to fit CT pre-amp), and I'll leave the jack as the hole's bigger than what an end pin will handle, then she's done. The BG is gonna have the TriAx added to the Cooltube, saddles adjusted (Tak saddles to start with), setup with Bluegrass set from D'Addario as Bobbo suggested, and then she's finished too. There's gonna be some playing happening on Friday for sure. Till then, I'm lovin' bowls.
