That said I will soon be going to ebay with the Adamas 1598CG and a 1624-4. I will be putting them up with what I consider a high reserve but I am open to hearing from my OFC Buds and working out an adoption plan, so don't be be put out if something catches your eye! The Adamas 1598CG is lovely, spotless, bright and an excellant player. No issues, just didn't talk to me like I thought it would. It is very Black 99% of the time and only hints at being Green under stage lights or when 2-3 Cop Cars are telling you to stop! The Country Artist is a Nylon strung beauty with the dual-duty knob pre-amp. The Neck is fatter than a steel and smaller than a Classical, which is excellant for picking. In the last week I was addressing some of the top finish issues and got to the "Heck with it" stage, pulled the Bridge and rosette and took her down to bare wood. The top is now done in pure Tung Oil and everything is back in place and strung. By taking the top down two shim heights and opening things up I believe the tone and volume has improved immensely! (Not a comparison but what is the top on the FD14 finished with?) It still has some dents on the back of the neck and if I don't sell it I might just sand the neck down and oil it up. Not Childproof but Smoove! What do I want to replace them? I would love to move towards an Adamas textured Top 12 string or something like an Elite LX 12. If I ended up playing a Mandocello and a Pacemaker life would be good then as well. Holler at me if I have stirred anyones imagination and incited any GAS pains! Did I mention that Moody NEEDS a Deacon 12 String neck - in Natural?

I really miss my 1758... if you can find one buy it!!! 1538 Definitely...never played one(but then there's always dreams)... as for Adamas 12's(for me) more like a fantasy at this point.... hoping for another 12 with an "O" headstock soon. God Bless, Glenn

BUT the box needs to be less then 108" by measuring around it once and then add length of box to the first measurment. Above 108" and it is a no go through USPS. then it requires Ups or someone else and it gets really expensive. (possibly 3-5 times as much). I last week shipped an Ovation factory box (with a case holding an actual ovation guitar) to france from boulder, colorado for $65 plus about $10 for insurance. I think it weighed about 15 pounds. It takes about 5 to 10 working days. You also have to fill out two small invoices that really just say to who, from who, and what it is and what it is worth. All in all, quite painless, except for the trip to the US post office and writing addresses about 4 times. The $65 price was the same regardless of where in europe I asked them about. As a side note, when I just received my u681t from music123, the only packing inside box was the cardboard that held top of case centered. No extra peanuts, bubble wrap or anything. It was safe and sound, I on the other hand cushioned my overseas box like gorillas would be delivereing it (no offence meant to gorillas). As long as the money is good (I only would except Paypal) and the buyer knows they are responsible for customs at their end, It does not seem like a problem. BUT again, the box has to be less then (or equal I suppose) to 108". hope it helps, mike

Priority mail gets them to their new home within 2-3 days at a fraction of the price from Big Brown. Also, usually a guitar is the biggest and heaviest item on the truck so no chance of a microwave or TV falling on top of the box and damaging the goods.

Flawless with USPS, problems with Big Brown. I know Dave prefers FedEx over all others, Tony and I prefer USPS, Al obviously prefers UPS. I guess that is why there are 4-5 choices for shipping items. Some people just have better luck with certain carriers than others. As long as it eventually arrives safely, I think we all end up happy campers!

The value is in which shipper can turn your horror story into a satisfied customer story the fastest. Dave

The times that I have had problems with ups they were solved in an efficient and timely manner. The usps is a joke so is their tracking and insurance. Just try to get someone on the phone. I dare you. Then if you do get someone that can answer a question that is not reading their answer from a computer screen telling you "that is all the information they have and you should visit a local post office" go to the local post office and you get another set of people that tell you to go to call the 800 number or go on line.

I have never tried to do anything with them over the phone....but I believe Al when he says it has been an unsatifactory experience. The couple times I have filed a claim with USPS, I just went to local PO, showed them the damage and insurance paperwork, etc. Usually within 2-3 weeks I then receive a check in the mail.....quick, efficient, and painless. The reason I never really thought about using them overseas is due to what you said. They do have a laughable tracking system but I think recovery of insurance claims is top notch. Just my experience.....if I had to drive 25-30 miles to get things handled, I might feel entirely different.
