He hasn't called my daughter yet to take a look at it, although he might have tried and couldn't. I can't ever reach her. Maybe now that somebody met his reserve he isn't too interested in showing it to somebody. I guess I'll leave it to the big spenders.

I suppose I shouldn't reply to myself, but just read the ebay answers for the 1537, where he says he needs to sell it to pay tuition. I should help him out, since my daughter finishes school there in May. 4 years on a full ride. What a bargain. But my second daughter starts next year and is going to a private school. I guess I failed with that one.

I'm betting it goes around $1000 - 1100. Worth twice that but only OFC seems to know it.

Maybe I'll just have my daughter trade one of her scholarships for it. But then I'd need to come up with the cash for her school. Tough to have GAS when you have kids in college.

If that puppy goes for $1500, I may have to rethink keeping mine. Man, that's a lot!!!

Mine has only a small "dent" near the finger board under the low E string (you have to tilt the guitar to see it) and one finish crack. Beyond that nearly perfect.....maybe I should trade it straight up for an Adamas....never mind, you guys will just accuse me of being fickle, stay with the 1537 adn all that other stuff. Long way from the $250 some of you offered me a week or two back....wassup with that?

just reread the thread(doh!!) and didn't know about the neck chips etc... will still close around a grand probably maybe not... anyway looks like first rounds on me... everyone bring your favorite slide, or we'll just start commandeering them from the bar.

if I had the spare cash would definitely be in on it .

but I have prior commitments to fulfill to other members here. you know who you are check your pm's please.

God Bless,

Glenn

don't believe the thread was referring to neck chips...but, this doesn't look like a floating fretboard

Good call, Tony. I didn't notice that when he sent me the same pictures. Did you notice that somebody on another ebay guitar (I think it was the cedar topped elite) glued the fretboard to the top with silicone sealant. When information is so available on the internet, there's no excuse for not knowing better.

Ok, confession time. I've looked at my 1537. Can't tell that the fretboard is floating above the top. Can't see any space. But I've had more people (including OFC members who've played it) talk about what a great sound it has.

I'm not certain that you can always perceive the gap.

from what I have been told, should be able to at least slide a piece of paper under...on mine, can easily slide a credit card.

this one looks like it is glued.

Wow! You learn something new everyday. I just took a look at mine. It has a gap you could fit a credit card under. This guitar is full of pleasant surprises.

Depending on the set of the neck there could be no amount of gap under the board although it is not glued.

My board is glued to the top (I think). or at least it's sitting darn tight on top of it. No gap. Dave

I'm just glad to find out it is NOT supposed to be glued to the top. Mine is definately in the credit card realm (maybe an Family sized King James Bible...okay, not that bad). I have noticed that with seasonal changes, I will get a buzz on one or two strings above the 12th fret. Good info to know that this is correct.

One word of advice - I would suggest not bringing religion into the discussion, even if you're just using the KJB as a measurement. Trust me on this ...

My daughter met with the owner and checked out the guitar--hence my 2 extra, but unsuccessful, bids. She said it looks fine on the front, chipped on the back and seems to play OK (she's a beginning guitar player and not fond of Ovations). But get this. It wasn't tuned. She didn't have time to tune it or a place to check out the electronics. I just couldn't believe that he wouldn't tune it before showing it. Same thing with the 99 Collector's I just bought though. I had to take a battery to test it and it was out of tune. Grad student needs money. I'll let someone else support him.
