Maybe I should start to bid on ebay? This guitar would make me to do that if something.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33029&item=7315050005&rd=1

Very nice. Wait until the last few minutes to bid since you don't want to draw attention to it. And whatever you do don't post anything about it on any guitar forums!

It had BIN, but now it's gone. These are things that are so difficult to me who is so lousy in business things, so maybe I'll pass this. Surely it would turn heads here.

I hear these are wonderful guitars. Has anyone played it side by side with the '96 Book Elite?

Is this one new?

There is one (a 96) in a Tacoma shop that when it goes out the door it will come with Warrantee. They had it listed at $1900 but I can look into it!

Can't be new. Shows a pic of the certificate of ownership made out to in someones name.

Ovation should still be doing that with the ltd edition models. A limited edition with a serial number pulled out of the arse means nothing.

The 87 Collectors is on my short list of wants. cwk2 once described it as the "Super Elite". I've played one back to back with my 1537 and the sound is remarkably close, with the edge going to the 87 in that it has a little more bass and seems to have a little more of an "open" sound.

Dave, I've never played one back to back with a book Elite, but have to believe that acoustically, the 87 would be a better guitar. I've never been impressed with the sound of the book Elite.

Along with the 1537's, this is an Ovation that should sell for a couple of thousand easily. But they don't. They usually sell for $700-$900 and I've seen them go for as little as $500. Last fall, I helped a woman buy one for $500 for her husband for their anniversary. It has some laquer cracks and needs to go back to Ovation, but for a total of about $8-$900, he's going to have a great guitar.

Can anybody tell that I like these a lot?

You know... I wish people wouldn't compare the 87 collector and the 96 Book. I have the book in 6 and viper and they are at the top of my bitchin' kitchen list!! I have not played the 87, but will some day, and then I'll tell ya for sure. Play on, Pray for Peace!!

Glen,
I have heard that "no-Comparison" issue before and I agree. But I tell you what is wrong!

You haven't posted your guitars in your gallery yet!

i own both 87 & 1537. 87 looks prettier, but 1537 sounds better. 87 & 96 book are just another custom elite. same wood, same bowl, same bracing ...

save your $ on 1537 or texture top adamas 1 or 2 (no shallow bowl though)

Getting tough to outbid the overseas bidders. Seems like buyers from France are especially active in the Ovation market.

Wasn't this same guitar by the same seller on eBay last week?

7 day auction. As far as I know, this is the only one that has been up for a few months.

There is actually another one but unfortenately not worldwide. It seems not to be in as good shape as this earlier. But it would suit to me, cause I don't care so much if it is mint or has some dings.
