It has some rare cuts by some rare bands. Not very good when comparing it to the big-time recordings of the Ventures, but its historical charm is priceless. This is precisely what we played in our mid-60's surf bands.

I also dig a lot of Link Wray's stuff, his seems a crossover between rockabilly, surf, hotrod and the '60s TV theme type stuff. I need to check my CD collection, but I think I have Lost Legends of Surf Guitar. Something else to dig out and dump in the Ipod. Edit-thought I did.. Lost Legends of Surf Guitar, vol 1, Big Noise from Waimea! Lost Legends of Surf Guitar, vol 2, Point Panic! Lost Legends of Surf Guitar, vol 3, Cheater Stomp Lost Legends of Surf Guitar, vol 4, Shockwave! Thanks, Tim

I highly recommend listening to The Aqua Velvets, and solo albums by Miles Corbin (the main composer and guitarist), if you want to hear some modern day surf music. Another good one is Surf-N-Burn by The Blue Stingrays, which was a side project by The Heartbreakers while TP was off doing his own thing.

This is his first album where he has sole producer's credit. There's a lot of really nicely recorded big-sounding acoustic instruments right up-front in the mix. Only heard it a few times but it's growing on me. Get the deluxe digipak version with the extra live DVD.Paul T, how is that new Haitt?

If you're into bluesy stuff, at the very least, you need to check out his songs: A Love Song for Bobby Long Graveyard Wail & Ride Jukebox Poison Broomy Ed Lee I always have Husker Du, Dinosaur Jr. and Ryan Adams within reach. I also spent some time this week with Vampire Weekend, the latest Jack Johnson album, and some Elmore James.

Just curious, I have my bands CD's in the car player. I am going over and over, some Gin Blossoms, Van Morrison, Moody Blues, CSN, and Styx, then four from YES. trying to get all the songs that have Acoustic guitar ready to go for these guy's and I do the High harmonies on the rest and the lead on the Yes. Had a great gig last weekend! Big crowd lots of compliments.....made a big $80....6 piece band... $500... But who cares, I love this stuff. It really is funny, so many bands will take this kind of pay.? I don't get it...a lot of them are trying to do this for a living? WTF $80 don't fill my tank anymore.
