and does anyboy by chance know if early models of the GP were issued with black pick ups? |

Location: Maryland, USA | I've never seen any s of the GP with black pick-ups...but I may be wrong, many others on this site know GP's better than I do. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Those aren't originals. The person I bought it from installed them. I think they are Dimarzio, but a different model than the ones than came stock on the GP. Dave |

Location: london | Thank you both StephenP and Standing ovation for your response. The gp picture you've linked to, is of a slightly butchered guitar. It has a phase split switch and the pick up's aren't original. note the white frame around the pick up. I remember seeing it on ebay about half a year ago. with all the explainations. Have a look at:

the original look as defined by ovation. Note the humbucker is in one piece and not two "chocolate bars" like the usual unchromed ones. i was wondering if dimarzio ever made black ones of those or if the Gp was issued with other pick ups previously.
Does anyone know for certain that only one shipment was ever made, or is that simply one of thiose urban legends. If there was only one shipment then all pick ups would have to be those white ones right? AND I WANT A SET...please:) |
