WARNING! I just got this email, around five-ish PDT..

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,

You will notice that it doesn't say "Dear Old Fart Arthur"...
Also when I clicked the link, it went to something that looks remarkably like that PayPal site....
but the advertisements that are always in that page did not load-up...
Also when I go to the real PayPal site, Firefox automatically loads my email address (but not my password) and it did not happen here. If you hit any of the buttons on the page, it takes you to the real PayPal page.

But since they did not address me by name, kinda makes me wonder...

Also the return address for this is..."PayPal"

All my on file PayPal emails say..."service@paypal.com" and PayPal

BE AFRAID! BE VERY AFRAID!

Sorry if I am breaking any rules, or just wasting everyone's time...
But I wanted to warn my online friends...

NEVER answer an email of that nature! Always go to the normal site home page from your browser to check for any announcements/messages.

PayPal and eBay have all the info they need.

Thank goodness my bride asked me way back when about these emails. She was about to really mess up.

OMA, no apologies required! Consider it a PSA.

Typical phishing letter. NO financial institution/government agency/credit bureau/etc. will EVER send an email requiring you to follow a link that asks for personal information.

I received the same e-mail yesterday. My credit card info was stolen about a year and a half ago, and I'm 99% sure that the problem originated with PayPal (for variuos reasons). Thankfully, my bank caught it before it got totally out of hand, and I was not held responsible.

I have since closed my PayPay account and have not had a problem since.

These bogus e-mails are easy to recognize. I was upset and angry after the first few, but after receiving maybe a hundred or more over the years, I just hit the delete button without ever opening them. They're easy to spot and just part of our society. I'm still working on SWMBO not to over react when they appear in her inbox.
