Mike Stevens (Dallas Ovation Rep) has asked me to sell a few guitars for him. I am going to put them on Ebay (unless someone claims it first). I have this Hamer that I'm not exactly sure what it is. I am not an electric player, so I'm not exaclty sure how to describe it. Looks like a Californian. Serial number 024xxx (built in 1990).
Help me with the description (parts).
Locking nut. 24 frets. Humbucker, single, humbucker. Dunno what kind of bridge. Not sure what all three switches are for.
How much should he ask for it? I will definately take better pictures in the daytime.

Love those boomers and the ebony board. I'm sure Al and others know the model (I'm not a big strat-o-copy shredder fan) for sure, but I think it's a Chaparral, as well.
You might have good luck posting it for sale at the Hamer Museum or Hamer Fan Club . |

That's what I come up with from the offical site, all though the current Californian model isn't in the "Hamer USA" section and Mike's has the USA on the headstock, as I would expect his to.
I have my Hamers but can't say I'm expert on all the models,but I'll swear by my Monaco Elite, as you well know!

Laterly, I've been fishing for a 'beach guitar' (Al is my favorite salesman, I have to tell ya; no BS, no pressure...my kind of guy) and I mistakenly bid on something on fleaBay that I'm now the high bidder on. :eek:
I figure the key is to have the nursery completely ready to go when she finally gets back home. That way, all my guitars will be out of the spare room and in to the newly refinished basement, where she won't be able to venture for at least another six months.

This guitar is a Chapparral Custom, which I suspect is relatively rare. A set neck and boomers are both pluses. If you haven't posted it on the Hamer Fan Club bulletin board, that is where I suggest you offer it. Those who most prize it and desire it will determine its value by what they are willing to pay. |

Location: Hagaman, NY | It is a 1990 Chaparral Elite. The mini toggles are pickup selector swithces (neck on/off, middle on/off, bridge on/off). It is very uncommon in that it it has a neck humbucker (usually came with a single coil in that position) and has 3 mini toggles for pickup seleciton (the 25 1/2" scale length models produced after 1987-up usually had a 5-way switch, this is more like the older 24 3/4" scale set-neck Chaparrals...unusual indeed). Depending on condition it is probably worth between $600 and $800. I like the guitar alot (as I am a BIG Hamer USA fan), but unfortunately am trying to sell stuff :( Post it on www.hamerfanclub.com or www.hamermuseum.com and watch it sell in no time if you put a $600 price tag on it (assuming it's in nice shape) |
