Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | After several conversations with Ernie, to assure that I wasn't taking advantage of a situation he found himself in, he graciously sold me his recently purchased 1713 classical.
First off, Ernie (Erniewan)is a great guy, and just went above and beyond in making this deal happen. 1st class individual, all the way.
I received the 1713 yesterday, and it is a beautiful guitar the cedar top is stunning! Then, I was blown away when I played her unplugged, as she projected like a CANNON and was much fuller/balanced than other classicals I have played. Plugged in she just got better. My needs for a classical guitar have definitely been met through this 1713.
Thanks again Ernie...for everything...and thanks for cleaning/polishing/restringing her as well.
At first I felt a little sheepish in buying this guitar for those who know a little background as to what happened earlier on...but Ernie had put those thoughts to rest, and I feel blessed to own this guitar.
I don't know much about other Ovation classicals...but if the 1713 is any indicator...GET ONE!!!

Location: Boise, Idaho | I plunked around on mine last night. It is a boomer, but the cedar has a warm tone. I was messing with some cheap classical guitars at GC at one of my stops on the way home from work and they were so disappointing compared to the Classic. Besides the sound, I love the looks of the cedar top and slothead. |

And thanks again for alerting us all to this great guitar Pokeypup...you the man! (...err or something like that :0 )

p.s. To add to the fun...the guitar is an anniversary gift from my wife (24th anniversary). It was on our 20th anniversary that the whole Ovation mania started for me, when she purchased my Pawn shop 1117 Legend! You know this 1713 is like the classical version of the Legend...both have a booming/warm low end tone! By the way, I love the feel of that 4x4 block of wood called a neck on this gem... you know you have a hold of something when you pick this baby up! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Much more like a 2x4 or actually a 2x1. My daughter noticed it was much thinner than the 1537, although at 2 inches, it is obviously wider. Just not to hot for barre chords or playing high on the neck, but wonderful for Classical Gas, which is the only song I know that is meant for a nylon guitar. I have to learn some Flamenco or Spanish or classical stuff. |

Location: SoCal | Mark, play anything on the classical that you would play on a steel string. You'd be amazed at how good some of it sounds.
This last weekend I had the chance to play Fred's 1763, which he bought new in 1991. I used to own one of these but it had neck issues that couldn't get resolved. Fred's was great. I was reminded why I bought one in the first place. A little better acoustic sound than my 1773LX, but it felt like a much bigger guitar. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Paul, playing the same thing on several of my guitars is not a problem, since I have more guitars than songs. I agree they feel like big guitars, especially after playing a little classical box guitar. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I agree with all the acolades mentioned above. If anyone is looking to add to their collection of essential Os the classical is one of the best deals on the market. Get one if you can. |
