I tried to order a 1773-LX Classical with a Contour Bowl and ran into the same problem. 12 Fret and Contour Bowl don't mix. I have a hard time understanding why, but I don't build 'em I just buys 'em.

The 1773-LX Classical as it is, is a 12-fret cutaway with mid or deep bowl (I forget), so that works. Maybe your guitar as spec'd but with the mid depth bowl would be the best way to go. It'll still be a killer of a guitar.

I may be in a minority of one (wouldn't be the first time - I think Carlos Santana/Joe Satriani/Steve Vai all suck more than Linda Lovelace) but I think the mid-bowl is better sounding, more comfortable and easier to hold than the contour bowl.

With all of jeff's great guitars to choose from (and I never played ANYTHING that sounded better than the Lowden), and all the great guitars at the Tour, the one I chose to play was the old Folklore - wide neck, mid bowl. Just perfect.

So if you "only" get a Ute cutaway with a mid bowl Tom - be happy. And believe me - if you don't like it, I'll buy it.

I disagree about the bowl (just personal preference), but I completely agree about Jeff's Lowden guitar. To me that was the best sounding guitar at the tour, along with the 47RI. Dave

I've got my order in for a custom Adamas 12fret-cutaway, Midbowl. I went with the mid bowl because, I wanted a slightly more bright/treble weighted guitar...but with the cutaway and treble side holes, my guess is it will sound much like the Ute with only a subtle difference in range/volume.

....for the record and forgive my immodesty, I have to agree with Dave and Schroeder, the Lowden is truely an amazing sounding instrument. Frankly, I can't believe I own it.

"Frankly, I can't believe I own it."

Frankly, neither can the Lowden.

Tom.... you are blazing the trail for many of us. If the "guitar that we cannot name" is not what I'm looking for a contour bowl 12 fret slothead just might be!
I hope you are able to get the first one off the line!

I'm the one to whom Dave alluded to earlier in this thread. I think the Ute has too much bass. And that is subjective and just my personal opinion.

I tend to think that a contour bowl 12 fret cutaway Ute with no treble soundholes would have way too much bass. Too much for what? Well, me. Probably not for others.

But a 12 fret cutaway Ute with no treble soundholes and a mid depth bowl would probably sound great! My guess (and it's only a guess --- the reality could be very different) is that it would have great balance and be very comfortable to play.

I agree with Schroeder about something! I had to go back and look what it was, but I like the sound and feel of my plain old Folklore (not FD14). Maybe that wasn't what Schroeder was trying to say. If so, I don't agree with him on anything.

Just got the news. They were not able to get the bracing problem figured out. So, it is gonna be a mid-bowl. In production currently. Should have it in 2 weeks (give or take).
