...and here I prefer a two knobber, with one knob gone and the other disconnected!

I remember many moons ago, I used to amp my ol Yahahamaha 12 string with a "barcus berry" (sp?) transducer just below the bridge.

I wonder how this might work with a 1537? I would like to try an undersaddle, but it appears to me that my saddle has been glued down permanently (or at least I can't get it to budge). Maybe an interior mic if I can find one that's affordable, but what do you guys think of the old tranducer style pick up for this application? I see Markley has one out for about $35.00.

By the way, I'm taking my 1537 camping this weekend...oh yea, the wife too (I think?!). It will definitely be the best sounding guitar in camp...even with Norseman pickin on it! That is another beauty of this guitar, I really don't have to worry about gettin her scratched, but I bet acoustically it will hang right in there with the most pristine of 1537's...actually, I wonder with the electronics removed, and the electronics openings closed with oak plugs, I wonder if she just might be even better acoustically? Lord knows her top is loosened up for maximum vibration!

p.s. Paul, The soundboard is stabilized, and I stabilized the crack along and through the binding/bowl (had to glue about an additional 8 inches...probably coutesy of the US postal service...only fugot would know for sure). Everything is tight and in tact. If I can, I will post pics in the gallery next week...those new tuners sure are pretty bro! :D

I prefer a nice pair of knobs also. :D

I had a choice of upgrading the electronics on either my 1619 CL or my 1537, both of which had a working stereo FET pre-amp. I'm really glad that I had the factory upgrade the CL with the OP-Pro. IMHO the 1537 has to have the two knobs.

The sunburst on this particular 1537 is beautiful. The OP 40 does look very nice and functionally outperforms the old system. Also, it looks like the bowl was repainted in black. I'm sure whoever buys it will not be disappointed.

yes I was wondering about the black bowl myself. It really sets off the walnut binding nicely.

The bowl must have been either repainted or replaced when the new electronics went in.

It was repainted. The factory did the same thing on my 1619 CL to cover up the fills of the holes in the body.

I thought that it has previoulsy been mentioned here that replacing just the bowl or the top is cost prohibitive. If a guitar needs either a new bowl or top, both get replaced as a unit.

"to cover up the fills of the holes in the body"

What does that mean?

The placement of the new oval preamp leaves the two knob holes empty, or in other upgrades the rectangle.
They either glass in or epoxy to fill the old and then cut the new.

Why would you want to do that...because you like the neck?

Did the sunbursts have brown or black bowls? The Naturals were brown and the -5 was black but I don't remember what the -1 was. It could have been black from the start.
