I own a 1971 or 1972 Balladeer, model K427, serial # 1111-4. It is an old friend and a nice guitar. Does anyone know the value range of this guitar? It doesn't have a pickup.

Welcome Bill.

Like the intro says there isn't a lot of public respect for Ovations.
What kind of bowl(shiny?) does it have?

Oops. I guess I got my serial and model #'s turned around. Shiny bowl? I'm not sure. Seems shiny but it is not totally smooth. There is some subtle spackle or texture.

The reference section doesn't note serial numbers starting with K.

probly wore down like the bowl on my '71 1111-1 and my '74 1114-4. they have the hand laid fiberglass bowls and after 40+ years of playing they tend to wear kinda sorta smooth and have a slight gloss..jason

So, what is the model name for a 1111-4?

The older ones started out less textured to begin with and then they wore down from there. Some of them are downright slippery. Dave
