If anyone has that replacement tone pot, I'll gladly pay more!
You never did respond to my PM asking how you managed to end up with the Deacon 12 that I outbid you on in that eBay auction. |

In the spirit of cordiality I will respond to your rude insinuations. With respect to the instrument to which you refer, on Nov.4, I received a "Second Chance Offer" from eBay. The offer stated that I was contacted "...because the high bidder was... unable to complete the transaction ..." The offer further states "The selling of the item through Second Chance Offer is in compliance with eBay Policy."
I have used eBay for many years and have never had a problem when purchasing an item pursuant to the stated terms of the transaction. Apparantly, you were unable or unwilling to do so.
In any event, clearly your gripe lies with the seller. By airing your grievance in this forum and casting negative aspersions on me, you reveal your own inadaquacies and downright silliness.
You suggest that somehow I made it worthwhile to the seller even though I paid less than your high bid. Perhaps your next suggestion will be that I sweetened the deal by throwing in a working potentiometer.
As an aside, this particular Deacon 12 is perhaps the greatest single guitar ever made in the history of man and certainly the finest I have ever had the pleasure of handling. |

Ebay still shows me as the buyer.
The seller and I are still in the middle of the seller's refusal to sell. Thank's for posting that you did get the guitar from him. I needed that information.
If a sale goes legit through eBay, then the buyer and seller can leave each other feedback... right?
The guy at the pawnshop told me the other bidder called him and offered him more out of eBay. I wrote you at the time and told you what was going down. I did not hear back from you so I assumed you didn't care as long as you got the guitar.
If it was a legit 2nd Chance Offer through eBay, go leave the seller feedback for the auction. I'll then be more than glad to apologize and write it off to the seller just trying to get more money out of me. I'll even buy you the pot. |

I apologize to you and the Board as I can see that my initial post is quite harsh.
I strive to be kind to others. And you know if I was wrong about this, I would have apologized and overly compensated the gentleman.
It has been hours, I checked ebay for that feedback. It is not there. He could have revealed old Noah's inadaquacies and made him feel downright silly by just being able to leave feedback for that seller. But ya know, the Seller still has a few more days left on his 60 day limit to get that 2nd Chance Offer out so feedback can be exchanged.
So let's help this guy find a pot for his Deacon!
Miles, out of everyone here, don't you have one to give the guy? |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Actually I don't have any, and as far as I know they were proprietary so there aren't any out there. It is possible to re-wire to use a more standard pot, but "it ain't pretty" as they say. |

Location: San Bernardino, California | The early ones (big single coil & very early mini-humbucker) were made by Stackpole (out of business as far as I know), the later mini-humbucker ones were made by CTS. I believe CTS will custom build them for you. Problem is that their minimum order is 1000 units. |

my experience with these was an adventure,
Brudev and Chatman were able to resurrect the preacher deluxe for me, but since the preamp boards and pots on the active solid bodies are very proprietary, and the parts so hard to find,
unless you know which aircraft they were used in...
I elected to sell the PD, simply because I knew that I could not maintain it if components continued to fail. and I did not want to use half-measures in keeping it as close to original as possible,.
dlnolet, why don't you sell it to Noah for his winning bid?... he'll probably have better luck at finding the parts...

What got me, was that the seller was trying to get more money out of me by leveraging on someone apparently waiting on the side. And the someone turns out to be an OFCer. As far as I'm concerned, it backfired for both of them. The buyer says that the seller got less money. And the buyer says they purchased through a legit 2nd Chance Offer, but then can't leave the seller feedback? eBay has no record of a 2nd Chance Offer, but maybe eBay is lying to me :rolleyes: The seller still has a few days left on his 60 days to get that 2nd Chance Offer out, but then he'll have 2 final value fees and even more explaining.
Well, sorry I couldn't help you find that tone pot :( |
