Yesterday, I saw a guitar that I am tempted to get but need some help. At a pawn shop there is a tabacco sunburst concert classic (1616) that is in beautiful shape. The top looks flat and clean no cracks, scratches, no bulges or warps. The action is a little high and the intonation is off but nothing a a good setup couldn't fix. There is fret ware but looks normal for an 80's era guitar. I saw one thing that worries me though. On the front and back of the bridge in the D and G strings area there is a 1" long gap that a business card might be able to slide under, but doesn't look like the front an back gaps meet. There are no signs of a re-glue and doesn't look stressed. Does this sound right? Should I run? I trust you guys, what do you think?

On a Classical, I wouldn't worry about it.
(but that's just my opinion)

I would agree with cliff especially if you can get it at a good price.

If it has the two dots it is probably being held with the back-up bolts. A resecure of the bridge is easy if it has't ripped anything out. It sounds like a nice grab price dependent.

I forgot to mention it, he wants $300 without a case. Then he said later, if I have a case I will sell it for $40! I would say they came together and he is trying to sell them separate. I should tell him $300 with the case. It does not have the dots so I would say it is just glue. Good info so far, I may just go for it!

If you REEEEELY want it and the price is right, you could send it to the mother ship for a sprucing-up.

I don't want to be the price police, but I think if you can get a classical Ovation for less than $400 you are doing well.
