Just wondering what's up with this guitar. I see in the Ovation website that 1860 model is discontinued, but note that this one on the label has '1860V' actually written rather than printed. Still on the quest for the 'ultimate O' (for me) and enthused about learning the eccentricities. What does that 'V' stand for and why the handwritten model? Never seen that before (not that I've looked at THAT many labels....) |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I think the "V" indicates the finish, but I don't know what that finish is. Other than that, it looks like a Custom Baladeer.

Location: New South Wales, Australia | G'day Oddball...this is really interesting. I've got one of those. I bought it new in July 1994. Until now I'd only ever referred to it as an 1860 Custom Balladeer.
But I just dug up the original receipt and registration card and I see the music store where I bought it have written the model down as 1860-5. I never realised that before.
Mine is black (see pics in my photo gallery if you're interested) and like John says, maybe it has something to do with the finish. That hand written label is weird too. I'll have to look a bit further into this. |

Location: New South Wales, Australia | I was hoping to find some hidden mystery but just looked at the Ovation tribute site and found that it was only to do with the colour. The number 5 indicates Black.
I'm assuming that the "V" is the Roman numeral for 5. I'm colour blind Oddball, but that 1860 on the bay definitely doesn't look black to me.

Nice finish, only offered for a couple of years.
My 6718 elite is Vintage.
It's similar to the limited amberburst, with an orange glow on the outside into a yellow near the soundhole.
