Location: SoCal | I thought of that, but the bowl is one made specifically for the K bar. Could the bowl and neck have both been replaced? Or was this a very early K Bar guitar (they were first used in 1977 on the Adamii line)? Bill? |

"By the way, for those Ovation fans who know the 1119, you will notice that this one doesn't have the truss rod cover on the headstock. This is because the truss rod adjustment is in the guitar because the original owner who is a luthier and guitar maker had it done that way from the Ovation factory years ago." |

| Didn't a '76 Legend have a Silver label? I had a '78 1612, it had a Silver Label. The serial# may say 1976, but the headstock and bowl label indicate it's a later model. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Yes the K-bar first made an appearance in 77 but it didn't make it into the line till several years later starting with the balladeer and working it's way up. The Custom Legend would have been one of the last. It ain't a 76. |

| I contacted the seller, invited him to the OFC board, seems an honest guy, he would like to know the specifics, I think he misread a serial number referenced somewhere, maybe at the Ovation website.. |

Then I fell in love with it and even wanted to get an annniversary one with handpicked spruce, but none of the ones I tried measured up to this one so far. " |

The solid Sitka Spruce front was offered in four caterories - A, AA, AAA and hand-picked Sitka Spruce . Today, Ovation no longer offer any models with hand picked Spruce anymore, not even with their top models that cost over $2,000.
Ray should come to the tour. I'm pretty sure I saw a couple of guys going through stacks of tops, grading them, and marking which model and finish they would get. In other words, they don't have to "offer" what is a standard practice. Now, if you want something really special, you'll try to figure out what their favorite beer is and come prepared :D :p :D :p |
