Location: Minden, Nebraska | That's a nice guitar! I had one of the early versions of the WY1 in Cedar, and really liked it, picking it out of a dozen or so similarly priced acoustics. I ended up sticking with my Ovations for practical reasons, but I wouldn't mind having another one of these.
Being a child of the 60's, I always grinned while playing it when I remembered this is the Bob Weir model. |

Location: big island | to my ears, all koa sounds great on ukuleles. cuz they are small and should have nice mids and trebles for the distinct sound. all koa guitars, again, just my opinion, are punchy and bright acoustically. they lack a certain warmth that the spruce topped guitars have. i had a gibson j-200 with koa back and sides and a sitka top. it was very nice. i was unimpressed with the all koa guitars i have sampled. i have not played a yairi koa.
i suppose it all comes down to our own preferences. me, i gotta hear the low warmth balancing the highs to enjoy a guitar's sound. |

Location: Scotland | I would agree. I'm not a fan of Koa as a sondboard material. It's not a bad sound, I just think spruce or cedar is better. I'm pretty sure this thing is all laminated anyway. |
