This guitar is great, but I think I need to have some work on it.

I'm pretty sure the neck angle needs to be adjusted. I have all the shims out, and the action is still higher than any of my Os. I doubt it's supposed to be that way.

My questions:

Looking through the hole, I see bolts. Is this neck like the one Woody just took apart on the Elite T?

I'm very adept at adjusting neck angles on electrics, is this one similar? Does it have some sort of adjustable feature like a Vipers does (which I adjusted a couple weeks ago). If I'm fairly confident doing this sort of thing on electrics, should this be an easy thing for me to do?

I think StewMac has something on how to check your neck angle. Basically it involves laying a 2 foot straight edge on the frets and seeing where it lines up on the bridge. I suspect you will have to plane the base of the neck, but I'll let others who know have at it.

This is going to be a long thread if we're supposed to answer 2,080 questions and you only give us 2 at a time...

You're not helping by making statements instead of asking questions... correct??

Isn't Damon the one asking the questions?

...well, if you're not going to take this question question seriously, then neither am I.

I was the only one who at least made an attempt (admittedly weak) at a serious answer.

You certainly did, Mark. A pretty good one, really.

Does anyone else have some answers for Damon's first two questions? Woody?

If I get some decent answers (Not saying yours wasn't Mark ;) ), I may consider trimming the question list by a couple thousand or so.

Then don't ask the question where all the smart ass members can see it.

Just send all you questions directly to me (where they will promptly be ignored or deleted!)

You're the best judge of your abilities but I'd say a neck reset is a job for the factory.
Any 2080 would seem a little new to need that kind of work. Let the mothership get the bugs out.

It could need the heel shaved. Is the soundboard bellying much?

It sounds like the same problem I had with my '05. I took the neck off and packed under the heel to see how much it needed adjusting - and it was enough to warrant a trip 'home' to the Mothership for a neck reset and a massage. (there's a picture in my gallery - I can't access it at the moment.)

Are you the original owner? If not, is another OFC member the original owner? If either of the above is 'YES', send it 'home'.

If both of the above are 'NO', send it home anyway.

The answer to one of those is a yep, so I'll probably send it off... eventually.

It still plays OK, but a guitar like this one needs to play perfect. We'll get her there eventually.

Thanks all.

Yeah Damon, I may take apart my T...
But I have a few of them!
And it was damaged when I got it.
I would not take apart an Adamas.

D, bring it to the gathering. We'll all sit around, take it apart and fix it via committee!

Actually if it does have the three bolts (LX) it won't hurt to separate it and look it over. Prior to shimming remember that each "pocket" is routed out to match the routing on the neck. Just adding a shim may reduce the connection surface and sustain.
