I bought this guitar a couple of years ago and it has received light play during that time. There was some noise in the electronics but I just got it back from the tech and she’s as good as new. While in the shop I had the frets dressed and polished and the neck adjusted. Now it is better than ever! In the interest in full disclosure, there is a very small mark on the back of the neck, probably the result of someone leaning it against a rough surface. It is very minor and not noticeable while playing. Other than that it is near perfect. I cannot find any other marks, nicks, scrapes, anything at all that takes away from this guitar. I bought it from the second owner, a friend of the first owner. It was ‘old, new inventory’ from a closed guitar shop in western North Carolina where it sat untouched for 10 years. The first owner stored it in a closet for several more years. The second owner is a player/performer who used it moderately for a short time. Make no mistake; this guitar is a player with a great set-up and smooth action. It has just led a very pampered life. The neck has a little deeper V profile, which to me is very comfortable, providing good support for my thumb and attack angle for the rest of my hand. I hate to sell this one, but I can’t justify keeping both the Adamas and the 1537 I recently acquired. The 1681’s have been selling for over $1000, the two knobbers for much more. I’ll ship this one to your door for $1000.00. Drop me a line if you are interested. There are more pictures in my gallery.

The 1537 aint to shabby either, just a totally different sound than the Adamaii. I played the 3 of them together this evening, actually the 4 w/ the Tak, and the differences between them is astounding. The two Adamas sound very similar with the UTE having more balls and the 1681 being more delicate. Both very nice but for different moods. The 1537 is, as reported by others, very mellow and not as jangly as the Adamas. Probably a fuller sound than the 1681 across the range. My daughter noted the difference immediately. And the Tak, well let's just say it is not an O or an A. To be fair, it needs new strings but so does the UTE. I'll be sad seeing the 1681 leave the house. Like the 1537, another of the same breed will return someday when I can expand my collection a bit beyond it's current limits.
