They should call that one the "Cowboy Bordello".

I don't think I've seen more bling on a single guitar.

when Howie or Brett get guitars in that are over-the-top, or customized beyond all sensibility, or just plain fugly they'll discuss them as "Baroque"

I think these qualify.

Anybody seen the finished Breedlove "Exodus" guitar that's been featured in their print ads for almost the past year?? Very Nice.

All-Koa guitar with a bunch of abalone snakes winding their way out of the soundhole and up the fingerboard . . .

It's a little "over the top", but at least it's somewhat thematic and inventively done. It's a nice piece of "art" (with a $75K price tag).

I'd take IT over EITHER of those Martins. They just look like LouisXVI just got done sneezing on 'em . . .
(or just got done doing something else)

Don't bother Witco, I'm trying to sell him one of my Collings while he's here in Florida.

I'm surprised he hasn't chimed in on this thread. I was half expecting StandingO to make a comment as well.

i think dave is not inclined to so much bling which is why i posted this rather sarcastically. i'm sure those martins sound great but i don't believe the bling makes them sound better. i think it is over-the-top gaudiness.

I'm here (on Amilia Island). The power trio performs tonight. Me on ukulele, Willy on bass and Bill on lap steel. Run through didn't sound half bad yesterday at the ceegar shop, but I think battle of the bands competition will be pretty stiff. Having a great time here at the Frisky Mermaid. Bluegrass open mic monday night, last night a guitar/voc/banjer duo who weren't half bad (they even played some blues on banjo - tasty). Good food, drink, sunshine, fishing, cool little historic town. I could give it all away and do this ...

As for the D50, no thanks. Even if I could afford it, I really think it's an ugly guitar. An abalone guitar with some wood trim. Yeah, what Bill said - I'm liking this sunburst Collings dread very much. Probably out of my league, but who knows ....

Later, Dave

Dave;

Do me a favor and nose around and see if they need a funky little SignShop on the Island . . .
. . . I'll work on a letter of Resignation.
