Here's a recent link you should REALLY take heed of. Deacon or Breadwinner or 12s Blue book I just think it's crazy how people always try to FORCE their guitars to be worth so much more than fair market value. Especially when they probably only paid a couple hundred dollars and they're looking to make a KILLING off the players out here who want them to PLAY.. not STARE at. Off the soapbox now.. just wanted to maake that point... sorry and thanks! Michael

Prices are for mint condition guitars, the recent prices on the bay seem to be lower than this, but it all comes down to what the seller will accept. Thanks for posting the link, an interesting read.

Keep in mind that this is a reference book, not a bible. How do people try to FORCE their guitars to be worth so much more than the fair market? Please explain this. The fair market is whatever price a buyer and seller agree upon. It usually works pretty well....

And the ones that barely show up are probably worth the most due to rarity but could also be because of lack of popularity.. nonetheless, eBay dictates pretty well. I have a theory on these Deacon sellers who've come and gone lately. It's that they think that because they have a Deacon or Breadwinner.. although they are GREAT guitars.. they feel their worth more BASED upon who's on record as ever having USED one. Say Tom Morello as of recent for an example. They feel based on that info, of him "barely I might add" using one.. that now they're worth astounding amounts of cash. Which is just unfair. Throw it on eBay and just let eBay do what it does best. Dictate the going values... it's that simple. Otherwise look what happens! Everyone getting annoyed but someone who "all of a sudden" joins the Ovation Fan Club... just to get everyone all excited then argues the true value of their instrument. It's ridiculous, no? Thanks, God bless... Michael

THIS is the ONLY reference worth a heap. eBay is a nice guide, as well as the blue book, but still... it's what the buyer and seller want to agree to. If someone has an idea of what a guitar is worth, then THAT is what they should ask for it, or if buying, that is what they should pay. It's just the way it is.

Six of one thing, half a dozen of another. eBay and Blueboks are what most every person goes by until their "passions" take over. That's when it comes down to what a seller would sell for VERSUS what a person is willing to buy for... but the guidelines really clear up that grey area between a Seller and a Buyer.. that's why I always try to not get "too passionate" because that's when people get ripped off. Just my humble opinion.... for what it's worth. God bless! MJK
