I contacted John B. at the factory about the cost for installing the new 2 knob preamp from the Adamas reissues, he said they are exactly the same, no updated electronics.

They can do anything! It's only a paint job anyway, but why would you want to loose that beautiful blue top?

Hey, Lanaki. Just been lost in a sea of other stuff going on now. My computer time has been limited. Also been lurking over at WGF. I'll try to get around here more often. Thanks for asking.

Thanks, got it with me! Back to the 1681. As many of you know I have tried and turned over several (many) diferent Ovations from the Applause through the Celebs, then on to the "real" Ovations, and on to the Adamas line. My last one that I bought then sold was the ute, which I thought would be the end of my quest to find the best feeling and sounding Ovation product. To be honest, I found the 1681 to be better, IMHO than the ute in playability and sound. I even sent it back for a complete refurb which included a new neck, which was costly, but I now have basically a new Adamas that is the one guitar that I will NEVER get rid of, regardless of the age of the electronics. For me, it is the perfect guitar, and even a few Taylor fans that have played it think its better than theirs, which is something considering the loyalty of their fan base. I think someone should jump on this one.
