Men,

I have a very nice 1758 (Ser # 414365) for sell locally on the OKC craig list. I bought this a month ago when I was in heat for a twelve string Ovation. I do not have the strength in my left hand to play it clean.....even tuned down a full step. 54 years old and I am turning into a wuss dog because of left hand pain. Enjoying my 6 string Elite though. If interested, please give me a call tomorrow evening after 5 PM Oklahoma time (405-237-1048) and I'll give you the skinny on this voice box. My Email is Hudleysj At cox Dot net. On my way to assume the horizontal. Here is a link.......http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/msg/309576948.html

Thanks,
Steve Hudson

nice price on a Great 12.. sorry to hear you're not keeping it. are there any issues with the guitar?

finish cracks, excessive wear, dings, needs a refret or neck reset?

looks great, and these are the easiest playing 12s there are in my opinion.. have you done all the changes to setup to make it easier for you? removed a shim or two.. switch to lighter strings?

too many 12s and other irons in the fire right now otherwise I'd be on this one.

Good Luck with your sale.

Glenn

Thanks for all the response. The 12 string has been sold pending funds. I'll delete this topic in a few days.

Here is the 1758 all cleaned up and adjusted! It needed several things: Strap Buttons needed tightening (may have been replaced at some point with straplocks but the originals are now back; removal of two "paper" (actually one and a half) shims from underneath the pickup. One original fiberglass shim remains and it is enough for a nice low buzz free action set; I replaced the Pierce strings with a new set of Elixirs; clean and shine; reglued loose ends of the serial number inside; replaced the battery with a good one (OP-24 works just fine now; cleaned the krud off of the case with a light brillo pad; looks much much better now. The neck and frets are in great shape so it plays and intonates nicely. Tone is really nice especially now that there is no paper in the way. So with a couple of hours work, I have a 1758 that is in 9+ out of 10 condition and a nice addition to the arsenal.

Thanks everyone; Check out my gallery picture of the white one I used to have; That one traveled to the former Soviet Union for concerts in the early to mid 90's. It's nice to have another one! I'm debating on which one to bring to the tour next month...BTW Lanaki...I was looking at the post about your new Adamas 6 (VVVERY NICE)when no one was sure if it was you thatbought it...I went to the buyer's feedback and the second from the top...and lo and behold...there was my 1758...Now I was confused...Becuae i knew it had come from OK. Now I know some of the "Rest of the Story"... A well traveled 12 string wouldn't you say? It needed a nice home...and its found one!

If you know of a Deacon 12 for sale,pm me...I've been looking for quite a while for a nice one. Had a chance to buy one in 1976 in Phoenix but bought a guild 12 instead...bummer

Below is a button "Full Reply".

Then you get "URL" and "Image".

If you right click a picture in the gallery (or anywhere) and go to "Properties" and copy the URL you can then paste it in the "Image" block.
