Here is my latest aquistion from the bay...not here yet but these are the pic's from the auction. It's a 1969 1115-1 acoustic 12 w/original case (abiet a little rough). I put a low bid on it and ended up winning the auction. it's going to go straight to the Mothership for a complete spa treatment. BTW, the original case can, I believe, be fixed. I think it's a cool and historic find and I can't wait to get have it "refreshed"!

Gosh, Mike, did you win the lottery lately? I went through the same buying frenzy for awhile, but I haven't bought a new O in 6 months, if you don't count putting the deposit down on the OFC guitar. I have to be careful about those ebay deals, or I'll be in deeper doodoo with SWMBO.

I know, I know...Actually, I have spent less on the Ovations I have bought in the past 4 months than for one Taylor or Gibson in my collection. BUT...I'm done now...have to be or I'll end up in a tent...lol, well not actually but I had decided that the 82C would be my last for a while...this 1115-1 was a fluke. I had no idea it would sell at what I bid...sure it needs some refurbishment but seriously...a vintage 1969 anything else would have been well over two grand. I bought this for $207. Even if I put Three or Four hundred in the restoration, its still a bargin! These are not that common. Even if I don't get it refurbed right now, its a cheap campfire 12 string for the summer scouting and church camp routine. As far as my better half, she is behind me as long as I share/do things with/for her and the kids too. I do. Or else I'd be seeking that tent! :D

A little over a year ago my wife was complaining about my multiple guitars to a friend who told her that he just bought a Taylor for $2500. We added up the cost of my 4 or 5 Ovations and told him that all of mine cost me more than his. That got me by for a few months until I bought a couple more in the same week. I need to learn to pace myself.

I hear you Mark. I certainly had not planned on getting so many in a short time...but I have not spent foolishly..I have gotten some really fine Ovations and some very rare ones at that. So, all things concidered, I am pleased. I don't remember a time when so many really nice Ovations were available in a short period both on the bay and in the forum; sure thay occaisionally pop up and there is always some interesting newer stuff and the ocasional vintage piece...but I have been able to pick from some great guitars. The only other one I wanted to bid on but did not was the recent Deacon 12...I knew that was out of my price range for the moment. Nice guitar but I don't play my electrics out that much any more, so the acoustic's and acoustic/electric Ovations are much more satisfying personally at the moment and at the place in life where I find myself..I am blessed! Sorry you won't be in CT in two weeks as I would like to meet you and talk. I think we have quite a bit in common besides our 87 Collector's, lol. Have a great weekend!

Oops...I was mistaken about the price I paid for the 1115-1; it was $202.50! Stupid Cheap! Just wanted to keep everything disclosed correctly...It sat at $129.50 until the final minute of the auction. My max was $252. I really thought it would bring more but glad it didn't. Also here is a pic of the "slightly used" original case:

Pretty sure its a Victoria Luggage Co. Case; the handle and the tolex are the same as the Victoria case for my 1966 Fender Villager.

Every weekend. Next year it's on the calendar, so all the regulars probably won't show up.

I'm hoping to make it next year as well. My son graduates form high school next spring though so I'll cross my fingers the dates don't coincide.

Damn Mike... I paid that much for one of my Celebrity's, and didn't even get a case! (with or without a bullet hole in it)
I think I noticed a crack or two in the finish, but for two hundred bucks, whaddaya want?

Nice Guitar!
