Hi all you ovation deacon (breadwinner)fans out there.
I purchased an ovation deacon 12string some weeks ago. I love it cause of its outstanding sound.
There is one thing that I have a problem with : it makes rattling noises at some string frequences. I already checked the tuners, battery case and all the switches. Can anyone give me advice by own exprience, what could be the reason for the rattling noise ?
Best Regards
Karl

Hi, Karl -
(The obvious perhaps, but.... ) are you sure it's tuned to concert pitch and it's not fret wire buzz? (action a bit low) I've found that most of the guitars from a few years ago, (especially if not used for a while) do tend to need a slight tweek on the truss rod to bring the neck back in line!
Regards, Clyde

My plastic bridge/tailpiece cover was loose on my Deacon. It drove me nuts trying to figure it out. If you remove the strings and take this off you will see that undrneath this plastic piece it is attached to the brass by melted plastic sprues that were molded into the black cover. The strings go through this part and actually do put some stress on this so if any of the sprues break loose you get a subtle rattle.
After removing mine I found I wanted to replace it with a matching piece of Walnut or any kind of wood as this plastic was the only plastic like it on the guitar. I have some photo's in my members section.
I have made a few of these and I actually have a promise to make two sets for members now. (sorry guy's I know this is getting to be a long wait now)
Try and see if you can drill and replace any of the missing sprues with screws....if not hit me up but at this point I have a couple of Birdseye Maple pieces and an Extra Walnut piece cut now. If you want one custom carved I have found myself buried behind two larger projects that have deadline dates and to be honest I need the cash from these so until they are done I can't take the time to do any carving.
Anyway this is just a guess??? Might just as easily be something else.
Good luck great guitars, if you can't figure it out sell it to me. I always wanted a 12 to go with my 6.

Randy
