Should be lots of good choices in the used market. |

Location: Slightly northwest of Trader Jim | About a year and a half ago I bought my wife a "Casio Privia". 88 weighted keys, along with the typical sound effects. Sounds pretty nice thru the factory speakers. I think I paid about $850. with the stand & shipping. I believe I found it on Amazon.com. Good luck! |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | For about 750 he could get a Korg Trinity with weighted keys that would blow his socks off. Used of course. Most of the keyboardists I know have either Korgs or Yamaha's. ... Let me rephrase that ... the two keyboardists I know have Korgs or Yamahas.
As to whether they are "true" weighted or not, I don't know. Velocity sensitive seems to be important too. |

Excellent suggestion.
I have a Korg TR workstation that is very nice but due to size I opted for the 76 key version vs the weighted 88. |

y'can't get a good, natural "piano" sound out of 'em . . .
They're a "OneTrickPony" (that admittedly, does that ONE "trick" VERY well . . . ) |

In fact I wrote the model numbers down and have them at home. Will post them when I get back this afternoon. |

We couldn't find that same model (Casio Privia) in the stores we were looking but, it's my belief, it would have held is own, but I was going from memory and Jackie was definitely hearing/ feeling subtle differences in sound and playability among the different models she was trying that I, was less able to appreciate.
We shopped in "proper" Piano only stores and found the Yamaha portable P140 to be "the best" -retailed at S1000.00
Runner-up was the Yamaha P85 retailing at $600.00 - and probably the best "bang for the buck" |

Location: Jax, Fl or lost in Ga woods, again… | I've had a Yamaha for about 5 years,nothing beats the feel of the weighted keys, close to the real acoustic, which is what you want, if they ever sit down to play a piano, also Yamaha has some of the best Grand, sounds going. I have the P120, not the top-of the line, and can be had for under 1K, even the version under the P120 or P130 have the same sounds & feel |
