Sometimes we sell because we just grow tired of a certain sound and want a change. Sometimes we sell because we need money to finance other GAS attacks. Sometimes we sell because other less fortunate members are GASsing really bad for a guitar that they were unable to afford (or unaware) when it first hit the street. I have been blessed to have owned some truly incredible playing and sounding guitars that I have eventually had the pleasure of sending off on a new journey. Short term yes...but long term never any regrets!

Joined: November 2006 Posts: 2241 Location: Simpsonville, SC | Thanks Mark, after playing Trader Jim's this past week I knew that I had to have the UTE. After some kidding around (read post) my new bestfriend Fred ;) popped up with one. Kinda like a wish come true. Had to break the old sell one first rule and promise the world to my lovely wife (JK) but how could i refuse?! I will be listing at least one loverly O here soon to get my Ovation / Adamas account back in balance. I doubt that this one will leave the Beggin household. Fred, it was great talking with you last night and I want to publically THANK YOU for this opportunity. It will be the pride of my mini collection. Please come visit it anytime! Bring a crow bar to try and pry it from my hands though. (Off note: are you sure that you are not an engineer?). As to Fred's reason for letting it go, I will defer to him. GAS residing, for now! :D :D

I left "old" strings on it, Change them at your leisure. Pay attention to the winding of the D & G Strings to keep them off the center of the headstock.

Maybe an announcement coming real soon. I am sure that there will be another Southern Jam in the Spring (weather may be a little cooler) we may move it to Simpleville when it happens, only about an hour and a half south of Asheville (more access to power, facilities, hotles, etc.) and go for the whole weekend! I will look at the calendar soon and try to throw out a few dates for discussin. Randy, any trips to the mainland planned for next year? Wouldn't be the same without ya!

I'm well off the pace of a new guitar every couple months that I had for awhile. The Ute was my first Adamas, but it was not my favorite guitar, possibly because I didn't appreciate how good it was at first. I don't have much to compare it to. Now that several better guitar players have played it and coveted it, and I have enjoyed a year of having it available whenever I want it, I've grown to appreciate what a great instrument it is. Ovation figured it out as well, as indicated by the introduction of a similar 12 fret Adamas production model for $1000 more than the Ute sold for.

I have a 1158/1658 (electronic uprade) 12 string 12 fret CL that I love and will probably never part with. The same will probably apply once I recieve the UTE. I have a hard time playing all of my 5 guitars and a UKE now, that's why I limited mine to these numbers. Hopefully, I can now concentrate on LEARNING to play them, it sure has been fun aquiring them though.

I think he offered me a beer at the next picnic or something. Anyway, glad you made the plunge, and I'm sure you will be too. Truly one of the finest instruments Kaman has produced IMHO. Next time we get together, they will hear us in Buffalo. And Fred, enjoy that bike. The only thing I can see it needs is a V Twin to power it....

They are also quite different, from the necks, to the nylon strings, to the cedar, spruce and graphite tops, to the different soundholes. It's great that Ovation can build such variety into just one "style" of guitar.
