This is a beautiful guitar, but the headstock on it, despite the label inside the guitar, screams Celebrity. Before buying it, I'd be interested in seeing the back of the neck. It should have a 5 piece neck and it doesn't look like it does....

I think the best the Celebrity's had was an FET 3 band, but I forget what it was called... This looks like the real deal to me, but it is curious there's not a photo of the back of the back of the neck...

The whole guitar looks right (was the barnburst ever used on the Legend?) except the headstock. You should be able to see the 5 piece neck on the lip.

You are absolutely correct. My '92 also has the stripes on the lip...I just noticed that... Hmmm
Did Ovation make a 2-piece Legend neck in the 80's?...

Legends from that general time period had painted necks, which would cover the stripes. The case isn't really an issue, though this case isn't an original (as pointed out above). The preamp and label go together, and it looks like an ebony board, which is also consistent with the Legends from the late 80's. The overall appearance, including the Sunburst finish, looks just like the #1767-1 in my 1991 catalog, -1 being 'Sunburst'.

Autumnburst, Tobaccoburst, Sunburst...I think Autumnburst is closest, as it looks too lite for sunburst and 'too orange' for tobaccoburst..
Anyway, I heard from the seller, he is going to try and get a pic of the back of the neck. I'm not familiar with the original '88 factory cases. This one looks a deep bowl 12-string case to me..

The finish on this particular guitar is identical to the color identified as Sunburst in the '91 catalog.

the colors on the 85 collectors are described as autumnburst... but still have the -1(sunburst) designation more reds rusts and oranges in it..

Comon naysayers, just look at the pic's before you jump...and the end of the fret board is curved not elongated....

As I said, the whole guitar looks right except the neck doesn't look like a 5 piece neck. I saw the label and I'm not arguing that. I don't need the label pointed out to me.

Sold for $455

Paul, I was just pointing it out to everybody...not at you...I hadm't seen the label the first time I looked at the guitar and thought perhaps others had missed it too. It was a beauty...Legends are nice guitars and a rare color to boot. Nom-original case but he didn't claim it was the original case.

No harm intended!

;)

The guitar's already sold, but I did hear from the seller, and he said it looked like a one-piece neck...so, maybe it was painted??...I never heard of an '88 Legend with a one-peice neck.
