I just wondered if anyone might be able to help with my slight problem?
As an electric player for many years, the strings I bought were just, well ... strings ! I wasn't too concerned about the make or brand really.
The guitar I'm playing nearly all the time now is an 1867 Elite. The songs that I practice (finger-style, no picks) require some of the melody to be played on the back E, A and D strings, around the 7th to 10th fret, because of the key of the song and fingering positions, etc.
What the problem is, is the fact that these strings sound a touch `dumpy' (ie. not resonating enough and lacking that bit of `presence'. Do any of you good folks out there have any string preferences that may get over this problem please? (The action is fine by the way - all the shims are out and no rattles !)
Thanks.

Adamas or D'Adario strings. I play mediums on almost all of my acoustics.

You didn't open it, you drove right into it.

Lot's of discussions on strings with lots of opinions. Do a search of the site on strings and be prepared to sit and read for a day or two....

Lemme slide on into the can here ... Hey, Captain, try some DR "Sunbeam" acoustic strings. They have a round core and have a compression winding ... designed to generate as much sustain as possible. They work well for me and could be an elixir to your issue, although there will always be a certain lack of ooomph with any ssb.

P.S. Do try the Rotos. I like those ... very nice strings. I currently have some on a 12 and also some Orange on an electric. Nice strings. I worked for a company headquartered in Kent and spent time there but never realised Rotosound was local.
