Joined: March 2005 Posts: 5567 Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | I put a bid on this yesterday and was outbid at the last second…turns out that the one who outbid me was using a stolen ID and eBay caught him...so the seller offered this to me in a 2nd chance if I wanted it (I called the seller first to make sure it was real): It was and I did! 1685-5 It was shipped today and should be here by Tuesday! Pic's and Evaluation to follow shortly... Nice match for the 1688-5. The 1685-8 should be here on Friday. I'm thinking of adding a room...lol BTW: Violetta sends her thanks for all the good wishes, thoughts and prayers offered on her behalf. She is better each day but the physical stuff will take a while to heal. I echo her feelings to all of you! This is a good group!

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 5567 Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Wow, thanks guys...I had no idea...thats the problem with the new eBay bidder hidden id: no one can tell who is bidding on what...I am truly surprised that I won...it jumped from $470 to $800 in the last few seconds...Hard to pass on such a deal...I paid $1100 for the -8 last week, and I feel I got that at a good deal. Seller sent me a few more pic's: It's pretty clean: a scratch under the rt. bottom edge of the bridge, and a small dent on the bottom lower bout...othere than that it looks good from the pic's...

The Doctor said she is doing remarkably well, and should have no lasting effects: the stiffness in her neck should be gone in several weeks and the bruising around her eye and from the seatbelt will start to recede (it already is). So, we have much to be thankful for. The 1685-8 arrived today by Fed-X: wow, what a beautiful guitar (I'll post pictures this weekend-its reaining today-yea!). The pictures do not do it justice from the for-sale post. Thanks Rick for a great instrument: 1983 and it looks like new (just some wear on the tuner buttons... The 1685-5 should be here on Tuesday (although the -8 got here a day early!) Pic's a a full report to follow! BTW, I had said in another thread that we got another car for Violetta: no more SUV's for her...She wanted a strong, well built car in nice shape (we decided against new for now). So here is her new one: 1998 Deville; Excellent Condition; under $7,000 My Name for it: "The Luxury Tank" :D ;) :p

I thought very hard about bidding also, but I couldn't justify another purchase as long as the gun safe is still overflowing with weapons. I have to work on that before even thinking about another guitar. AND ... I'm still on the honeymoon with my new Adamas. Thanks again Dave.

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 5567 Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | I have to admit it: I'm a guitar gigolo; I love 'em all (and they do get played or they hit the highway...figuratively speaking)! I do have a soft spot for 12 strings; always have. With Ovation (and now Adamas), its a relationship which goes back to 1976...for me, simply one of the best 12 string guitars ever: I am anxious to do a comparison with the 1688 and the 1685's... Looks like ti will rain for another three days so the pic's will have to wait...the 1685-5 should be here by then and I'll take pic's of both! Thanks for the good wishes!
