Location: Vernon CT | I'm curious about something and I am not sure of the answer. I was in my local G.C. earlier. They have a Beautiful 1614-1 for $499.00 which I thought was a resonable price. I don't really play "classical" and yet I'm looking at this guitar and I see that the bridge appears to be exactly like my other "O"'s. I start wondering why I couldn't put light or extra light steel strings on them. Other then the obvious wider nut, what make a classical different then the Steel string and would putting "steel " strings on the 1614 be ok to do?? |

Location: SoCal | The 1614 is a steel string guitar. It's the original Folklore. Steel strings, wide neck, 12 frets to the body. Diamond and dot inlays on the neck. If they have nylon strings on it then it's strung incorrectly....
Take a look at this old catalog and you'll see...

Location: South of most, North of few | Man, there are more people that put nylon strings on the 1114 and 1614 just cause it's a wide neck slothead. I bought one once that came with classical strings on it. sheesh.... btw BT, if you don't want that one, let me know. They are FINE guitars. |

Location: North Carolina | So which one is the classical? I had one back in the mid-seventies, but have no idea on the model number. Don't know why I got rid of it, but then again I have no idea why I did a lot of things back then. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I got my Folklore cheap because the prior owner gave up trying to tie the nylon strings on that bridge. It's a great steel string fingerpicker. |
