why does it have a prototype/special label from june 1981? looks like a deep bowl... ebay legend sunburst

one of the first stereo? wish it had a shot of the back...

good BIN for a Legend... better for a proto.

I think it was agreed here that it is a 5 S, not SS, probably referring to a prototype color. 5s or black sunburst. It doesn't have the red tint that the other bursts have going from the center outwards.

I've never seen an early Legend with no truss-rod cover, but a stacked tone/vol preamp.. when where the Kaman Music Group labels used?

Kaman Music Group labels were used on non-production models. Prototypes for testing different finishes or other things. Note the serial number is a date of production, not a number in the producion run (06-16-81). Early 80's Legends had the stacked knobs and no TRC, I have an 84 Custom Legend like that.

My non-damaged 1619 is like that (Kaman bar, no TRC), while the damaged one is a year older and has the traditional truss rod and carved TRC.

Maybe for me too, but it's unique enough in that it's a non-production Legend and in NOS condition. Something to buy and keep.

woulda been better had he kept it at the $500 BIN he had on it yesterday... plus $75 shipping?

nice legend tho... wish it was a little older with a TR neck, it'd be gone.
