Location: Upper Left USA | My friend John plays mostly Bass but is an accomplished guitarist. His fingerpicking is articulate and clear and I trust all that he says in his descriptions. He has asked if I would help him sell some items on ebay and I wanted to toss a bone to my OFCers.
Anything to keep him from buying a Taylor or a Martin!
Actually since he is looking at the high end that wouldn't be a bad thing. I am sure there may be a Takamine model that would be appropriate for him too!
Entertaining all correspondence sales/trades. Here is what he wrote me:
Mike,
Here is a link to what appears to be a dealer selling a new Godin ACS-SA on ebay. This is the exact model and finish as the one I have. There are two of these listed on ebay with "buy it now prices" of $898 and $989 respectively.
Godin on Ebay
Any guess as to what a used one would sell for? It is in good condition (just the typical surface scratches from normal use) and has a hardshell case.
I also have a Roland GR-30 guitar synth and an Alesis QSR single unit rack mount synth module with the optional classical Qcard (PCMCIA) that I also want to sell. I can bring all this gear over sometime and let you have fun with it.
The Godin guitar was a venture into the guitar synth world - interesting but ultimately unsatisfying as it is an attempt to "approximate" other instruments. It did some things well but in the end was not nearly the same as the "real thing". On the other hand a sweet sounding acoustic guitar is something that I never tire of - I think you know what
I mean...
The steel string acoustic I have now is an Ibanez AEF30. It is a decent guitar for strumming and flatpicking (crisp and shimmery) and has a good plugged-in sound; however, the thin body and maple top and sides result in a rather thin and uninspiring sound when fingerpicked. I don't plan on selling the Ibanez.
The acoustic guitar that has my attention is the Taylor GC series (different wood selections) but I have only played the GC5 (cedar/mahogany). I have also been impressed by the sound and playability of the Martin 000-28. These all have shorter than normal scale lengths (24.xx instead of the usual 25.5) and small body sizes yet have very good acoustics. Neck widths on these are 1 3/4". Jumbos and dreadnaught sized guitars are too uncomfortable for me to play for extended periods and in my opinion are too bass heavy (an odd comment coming from a bass player...).
As I mentioned I also will be selling a Kenwood amateur radio transceiver and related gear that has been sitting unused in storage.
I m not in any hurry to jump into something and am certainly open to a used instrument of similar quality. |
